General Grievous
They avoided doing Raven against Scarlett Witch or Jean Grey to avoid a curbstomp.
Yeah. Jean's hard to find good match ups for, considering she's a pretty big psychic heavy hitter, due to having both telepathy and telekinesis, whereas most DC psychics have one or the other.
The best opponent for her would be Martian Manhunter, Ms. Martian, or Saturn Girl.
One Strip! One Strip!I was just thinking Jean Grey vs Martian Manhunter would be interesting.
Not as interesting as Phoenix vs Beerus buuuuuut up there.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).What are the connections between Phoenix and Beerus again?
Planet busting deities of destruction who both attain some sort of role in the cosmic hierarchy in regards to cosmic entropy.
Beerus is a God of Destruction and the Phoenix is a God of Life and Rebirth.
At least thats what I got.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Funny thing about that fight is that Phoenix would definitely be able to read from his mind that Shin was his weak link.
I dunno if that would be allowed for Death Battle or not though.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersYeah, cause there's no evidence Beerus is immune to telepathy.
I think the closest we got to any sort of mind altering/telepathy from Dragon Ball is in Xenoverse when Beerus faked being mind controlled, which in all honestly doesn't seem to far fetched from what a god of destruction can have.
We know Telepathy and mind reading exist, Goku did it when he arrived at Namek and read Krillin's mind. Vegeta straight up resisted Babidi's mind magic or something (though it might just be a different category) through sheer power.
Hell, so was Master Roshi in the first Martial Arts Tourney arc with Nam.

I also think Korin mentioned being able to read minds during his training with Goku back in the OG Dragon Ball.
While Black Cat Vs Catwoman is the more popular choice, looking back on the old Marvel Vs DC comics makes me think that Elektra Vs Catwoman should be up for consideration too.
At the very least, it means we won't get another Bat vs Spider where I think it's fair to say the latter stomps the former the vast majority of the time.
Isn't Beerus vs Galactus the Marvel matchup that makes the most thematic sense?
The Phoenix Force's "otherworldy consciousness / force of nature that possesses a character, creating a superpowered evil side of apocalyptic proportions" thing feels like the kind of thing that matches thematically for lots of anime, but not Dragonball.
Heck, even the "heroine with apocalypse level power that risks turning evil" bit fits others a bit more. What about Madoka from Madoka Magica?

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Huh those 2 are both purple even.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."The more I think about it, Braniac vs Galactus might be more fitting than Braniac vs Ultron after Convergence made Braniac more of cosmic godlike being.
Hey, are the only good opponents for Duke Nukem and Lo Wang each other?
Maybe Lo Wang could take on Snake Eyes, who probably has some crazy comic book feats that might match Wang's absurd arsenal... Maybe.
I usually hear Duke Nukem pitted against Serious Sam, but yeah- in general anyone cut from the old PC shooter cloth is a good match for anyone else from that era. Doomslayer aside, of course.
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaI was thinking Duke could work against Johnny Gat as well. Obvioud visual parallels, egotistical slayers of extraterrestrial foes.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).So what are your guys stance on Peach vs. Zelda if done today?
That butt battle minigame from Dead or Alive Xtreme 3, but the tables are now even more in Zelda's favor.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Zelda would easily beat her these days, I'd imagine.
It's been 3000 years…They'd still have to use a specific Zelda or amalgamate them (which they don't do anymore) since her powers vary wildly across all versions (what with not really being the same person, even if you subscribe to the reincarnation theory).
They'd probably have to go with either BOTW/Age of Calamity Zelda or Hyrule Warriors Zelda, since they'd have the best feats.
In fact, I'd say that even with that, Peach still wins, because she's still more consistently controllable than Zelda is, is the same person each time, etc.
They might state different reasons why she'd win.
One Strip! One Strip!Main things Zelda has going for her are soul hax through the Power of Sealing* and lightspeed attacks thanks to the Bow of Light, I think.
**and this is, of course, assuming it'd work on non-evil entities anyways
That said, Peach is still a very cartoonish character who can do things like this and is just as agile as every other character in the sports/Party/platforming departments, so I think she's still far and away more likely to win. Besides, Zelda's ability to seal souls is counteracted by Peach being able to put people to sleep. Zelda still doesn't really have an answer to being bonked by a sheep...
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaShe could probably use any one of the shield spells in the series (Nayru's Love from OOT, the Magic Armor from Wind Waker, or Daruk's protection from BOTW)....if they were willing to let her do that.
One Strip! One Strip!
Alternatively, Brainiac vs. the Collector: who has the best collection?
