Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Probably because it's hard to believe that Trump can actually grasp the concept of subtlety that's part and parcel of seduction or beguilement.
It's been fun.He doesn't seem to grasp much of anything.
Must...resist...urge to make crude joke concerning Trump grabbing...

Disgusted, but not surprisedA friend at work said that once Trump uttered that line, he thought the election was over in Hillary's favor. Oh how wrong he was...

Thanks, I needed that.
...That was crude, disgusting...and I still found it funny.

Disgusted, but not surprisedFunny to see Trump handle jewels other than his own.
Inter arma enim silent legesSo...How much lower has Trumps approval rating gotten?
Watch SymphogearRawstory reports that the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll has him at 38% approval amongst adults. That's barely one out of every three adults.
He's losing approval amongst Republicans and his approval rating is at a historical low for a prez in their first term.

I liked it better when Questionable Casting was called WTH Casting AgencySo nearly two thirds of the country hates his guts? Good to know.
That is almost as bad as Taiwan's current president's approval rating.
Disgusted, but not surprisedNeed I remind you all that if those two-thirds live in Democratic strongholds or don't vote (either because they don't want to or because they're prevented from doing so), then this means nothing?

Trust me, it's going to get there in the next year tops. Maybe even worse depending much access our Cheeto in Chief still has to his twitter.

Also, 38% is actually higher than before, as it was at around 35% at one point.
I'll believe it when I see it. Until then, I'll assume that Trump's cult still adores their dear leader, and that they'll still control the states that matter to the electoral map.
And yes, I know full well what assuming makes you and me into. I just don't care about that anymore.

I mean, there's a difference between realism and pessimism.
That being said, I'm not too comfortable assuming things will stay the same until next year, but at the same time, unless Trump stops being Trump, I don't see him doing much better than he is now, which means the scandals will probably keep coming.
Thoughts?
I liked it better when Questionable Casting was called WTH Casting AgencyWell, he seems to have a pretty specific idea of his father's current location.
To be honest, my first thought was that he sounds like every scrawny white mass shooter.

It's been fun.As someone who is almost 17 himself he sounds like every edgy teenager ever, it comes off to me as just some r/iamverybadass stuff, but it still seems really disconcerting.
"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas EdisonHe said this in public at his father's eulogy? What a fucking moron.
I bet if he's actually confronted about this, he'll clam up and claim he was just joking.
Roger Ailes is probably facepalming in hell right now.

Disgusted, but not surprisedUnlikely though it may be, I wonder what would happen if Trump is removed from power, either through impeachment or the 25th Amendement Section 4. I'm kind of worried that some of the more diehard Trump fans would see it as a coup by The Establishment(tm) and try to start shit.
"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas EdisonThat's one of the reasons the Democratic Party isn't focusing too hard on impeachment efforts, aside from the fact that it's not gonna happen under a GOP controlled Congress. They know full well that impeachment is a drastic measure and should only be done if it's truly, fully warranted and has a decent chance of actually succeeding.
Disgusted, but not surprisedWhat kind of shit?

The only good fanboy, is a redeemed fanboy.
I don't know why i find the idea of Trump using words like "seduces" and "beguiles" funny.
