Arno is also an argument for the developer as no one gave a shit about his personal drama during the ****ing French Revolution. "No one cares about Elise! Get back to the 3rd or 4th most important event in the past few centuries!"

It was painfully obvious that Arno's story could have been done in any time period and the FR was just window dressing.

What is up with that Penelope's Shroud? The mission makes a big deal out of it, then it just becomes a low level common hood. You could easily dismantle or sell the thing by accident. What's up with that?

I believe the implications are it's a fake.

The premise being it's just a test to see if Kassandra is capable of getting it and thus being a good enough assassin to kill the Wolf of Sparta.

Well, it's not THAT bad quite yet. Let's see what the next game is like. I like this one so far.

Some of those riddle documents are impossible to solve on your own. Like the one where you have to find the Seaman's Judicial Court, which is not even marked anywhere, and you just have to know which building that happens to be. Or the one that says to follow the road north and look for a small road with strange goat statues. Turns out, it is the entrance to a cave that is nowhere near that road to the north, and doesn't really have a "road" to begin with. I wish someone had double checked those riddles better.

I mean, think back to that one quest where Barnabas tells you to recruit an archer from Pirate Island south of Phokis with a shipwreck on the shore. If you sail to the visible island on the map that's south of Phokis, you'll find it's called Pirate Island on the map and has a shipwreck.

This is, of course, the completely wrong island.

It's been fun.

Except Barnabas never names the island "Pirate Island". In fact he never names it at all.

It's the quest log tells you "On the Pirate Island", but it also includes in bullet point "South of the sacred land of Apollo and the island has a shipwreck on it". So the only way you get confused is if you purposefully ignore the directions. It is in fact the only island that's part of Phokis. The labelled Pirate Island you're talking about is in Boeotia. And well if you focus on the name and ignore the directions well you got what you deserved.

In fact there's "Several" islands named Pirate island on the map.

I mean, not to come out swinging here or anything, but yes, I'm totally in the wrong for not being immediately familiar with how the map works literally ten minutes after getting in the ship for the first time, and for assuming that the island which is south of the area labeled as Phokis isn't "the island south of Phokis" because it's bordered in a different color.

It's been fun.

Yeah... That sounds like a readability error. At the very least, shipwrecks on the island when that's part of the description seems like a bad design choice too.

[up][up]Except the game never says "Island South of Phokis"

It says "In Phokis, South of the Sacred Land of Apollo", which is the western edge of Phokis. Even if you interpret the Boeotia island as being south of Phokis, it's not anywhere near the Sacred Land of Apollo

I think the interview establishes Ubisoft's interest in Assassins Creed is no longer in the metaplot (for lack of a better term) which was originally supposed to be AC 1, 2, and 3 with 3 being the end of the whole thing.

It's now purely the fact they can use history as an eternal source of endless numbers of "You killed my father and I have to save the world!" adventures. It's now the Mario and Zelda of Ubisoft.

Well, it's still interesting so far. It helps that Kass isn't continually angsting over it. She's not purely defined by her quest, like some other previous PC's were.

Should we add civilians as Goddamned Bats? Because they sure are annoying in this game. Rather than run off when hit or seeing a fight, they'll just grab a weapon and join in the melee, gaining you a very fast and very high bounty on your head.

Also, Civilians are 100% Goddamn Bats. Thank GOD for paralysis arrows and the Spartan Kick.

I have to say though, with this "nonlethal" KO system, the game has given the player the potential for some incredible cruelty to the NPCs. I'm not the only one who knocked out cult guards and dragged them into a nearby bonfire or shark nest right? God the Templars are absolute batshit in this game. Like, sadistic and cruel to a whole new level. If they were this bad in Peloponnesian war War era Greece, I'd hate to meet their Ancient Mesopotamian or Canaanite equivalents.

Well, human sacrifice wasn't all that uncommon in the ancient world, especially outside the Roman Empire, so yes, it really WAS that bad. Of course, whether people at the time viewed it as good or bad depends on whether or not your culture accepts it.

Christianity helped put a stop to a LOT of that sort of practices.

Odyssey makes me feel like Black Flag to an extent in the fact this game is held back by being an AC game.

They really should have just made this an RPG set in Fantasy Greece and gotten a better main plot.

Like fucking Zeus is mad Ares has stolen his mojo and you need to go find his thunder.

I still say we're missing out not having an Assassin's Creed set in Asia. British India would be an amazing time period, and frankly, thematically perfect. The various Chinese Empires as well. Perhaps even a Chinese-ruled Korea vying for independence. China with its consulates dictating terms to the king of Korea, Japan as an invading force, Korean soldiers as the local guards. Wako pirates as the "brigand" faction.

Is Egypt the only non-European Assassin's Creed so far? With the exception of the first one, of course, which was Levantine.
