Wart was last seen on Koholint Island, so he traverses a couple different dreams/nightmares.
The Protomen enhanced my life. The game could just end with that.
I would genuinely love something like that. A day in the life of Bowser when there's no other antagonist, no one else threatening everything, we play as him as he just wants to out and kidnap Peach.
They could even tie in the game following that one as Mario goes out to rescue Peach from whatever plot Bowser enacted in the previous game and then comes the new villain they have to team up against.
Or maybe it could be like Sonic Adventure 2, and there are separate stories for Mario's side (save the princess) and Bowser's side (kidnap the princess).
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢I found a funny mistranslation in TTYD where Dark Lakitus are said to throw pipes that Sky-Blue Spinies hatch out of.
The Protomen enhanced my life. There's a big amount of focus on scatological humor, nakedness, and other things acceptable in manga but not Western kids' comics. That's probably why they're printing select stories and not all of it.
The Protomen enhanced my life.>nakedness
O_O Hope it wasn't Wario and Waluigi.
What do you want in a new Paper Mario? Whether its in general or the possible game coming later this year?
Like the first two games. Not the last two games.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Wouldn't things kind of get redundant having a large group of partners every game?
CHAIN CHOMP PARTNER!!!!!
I will never let that go.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Yeah that's about right. I'd rather they refine what they had in Thousand Year Door than do anything else. It's what most of the fandom wants too.
A Dry Bones partner could make way for some wonderfully dark humor.
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢Seeing who gets to be a partner is a big draw to the game. Seeing time-old mooks turn into reliable companion characters is too cool.
You know what I want? In TTYD your companions could get really chatty. But only the active companion would participate in cutscenes. Instead I'd prefer it if the whole party came out to chat, that way you aren't missing any fun dialogue and they all have more opportunities to interact with each other.
I could sum it up as "like the first two games", but I'll go a bit more in-depth.
- An actual story. This doesn't have to be a complex story, it just has to have presence; Paper Mario 1's plot is a pretty straightforward one, but we actually get to see it with the between-chapter interludes among other things. Each individual chapter being its own short story also helps.
- Named characters. Even though some of Color Splash's endless Toads do have personality, the fact that the game can't even be arsed to give them names makes them difficult to remember.
- A battle system more like the first game, beautiful in its simplicity. Maybe keep TTYD's audience as your SP-gaining mechanic, and your partners having their own separate HP, but I'd get rid of some of the other mechanics like stage effects, battle roulette, and superdodging. They're needless clutter and/or break the game balance. Sometimes less is more.
- Tone down the self-referential paper jokes. It's a good aesthetic and it's fun for cute visual effects like Mario curling around himself to go down pipes or turning sideways to slip through metal bars, but I'd rather they not acknowledge it in-universe like Sticker Star and Color Splash love to do at every opportunity. It should feel like a story being told with paper cut-outs, not a story being told about paper cut-outs.
To be honest, I've never felt there was a problem whatsoever with the story in the first game. Yes we all know that Bowser kidnapping Peach is cliché, but him actually WINNING at the beginning and beating Mario was new, and it was the first time we ever actually saw that scenario with any kind of in-depth storytelling in the whole series. I don't consider it inferior to TTYD's plotline because as I said before, Bowser and Kammy are just far more entertaining than the X-Nauts and we are far more attached to Bowser as a whole in comparison.
I wouldn't want a Mario RPG to repeat that plotline, but mostly because it would feel "been there, done that".
Solution: Have Bowser and new villain team up. There, everyone wins.
Wait...

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. How about new features to make it stand out from the first two? We wouldn't want a second helping of the New series do we?

it doesnt really need any extra features
just give us TTYD gameplay with a new story and setting and im good
"Have a good day. Have a good week. Have a good month. Have a good year. Have a good life." ~CiviaOne bit I really appreciate is how around the fifth or sixth Star Spirit rescued, Kammy Koopa realizes there's a very real possibility Mario will get them all and actually takes countermeasures just in case that comes to pass.
You sorta get that again in TTYD with Grodus basically just letting Mario get the seventh Crystal Star and tricking him into opening the door himself, but it stands out more to me in 64's otherwise-simple plot.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! The one thing that made the X-Naughts weaker as villains is that they aren't always there. You only really deal with them in chapters 2, 5 and 7.
And I'm not really counting the Shadow Sirens, because while they are in league with the X-Naughts, they also aren't X-Naughts.
Compare that to 64, where all of the bosses are clearly Bowser's minions.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."I kinda wish we could've fought the Koopa Bros. again before Jr. Troopa butted in. XD
The Protomen enhanced my life.Well unlike Bowser who had his minions guarding all the macguffins, the X-nauts can only race Mario towards them since they don't have any.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.No but this feels like a bit of a loaded comparison. We haven't gotten a "proper" new paper mario in a very, very long time so even something that's basically TTYD with a new story and partners wouldn't exactly come off as samey or derivative.

Yeah. part of the reason Sticker Star turned out the way it did was because they thought it'd just be TTYD on 3DS and wanted to do something different/simpler, but 'TTYD on 3DS' turned out to be what most fans wanted instead of what we got XD

Pretty sure Wart is dead. What a wuss, Bowser was dumped in lava repeatedly and he got better several times.
