Finally started Yakuza 7 now that the PS 5 version is available. For better or for worse, Ichiban in the main storyline feels he’s in The Last OG.

It’s striking the difference from 2001 to 2019 vs the early 90s to mid 2000s.

It was nice surprise to see that the wrestler Saki Akai is one of the hostess in Yakuza 6.

Ahab's Revenge makes Spear fishing a breeze, still a lot of fun though.

Yeah, I didn't expect to see any wrestler hostesses, but she was my favorite because of it.

Hello everyone! I decided I wanted to give this series a try. I have Yakuza Kiwami from Humble Bundle. Is that a good start to enter the series?

Yeah its a remake of the first game in the series so thats good to start with.

Zero is probably the best place to start, being a prequel, but you're not going to lose anything starting at Yakuza Kiwami and going back. Just be aware that Kiwami is a remake if you go down the line. Going from Kiwami 2 to Remastered 3 is a bit of a shock in a lot of ways. Kiwami is more like 6 than anything else, so a lot of the features Kiwami 1 and 2 vanish in 3, 4, 5

Judgment's story is really engaging, i hope they'll use these characters again.

You might be in luck. Supposedly a Judgment sequel may be in development.

I really liked the twist with Shono.

So, I heard that "Kiryu doesn't kill people" (which has memed to hell and I approve) was actually a mistranslation and what was actually meant was "Kiryu doesn't kill people except in self-defense."

Is that true?

What it's supposed to mean, from what I gather, is "Kiryu doesn't murder (as in, deliberately kill in cold blood) people". I suspect the people he shot up during the car sequences or the chopper he blew up in 6 are plenty dead, and there was that one time when he used a hapless waiter as a meatshield.

In that regard, he's never an aggressor, defending himself or other people when he has to kill. There's even that bit in 5 where one of the villains says he's heard that Kiryu doesn't kill, and Kiryu immediately goes "Well, that might be wrong" as he bears down on the guy.

I still think about that poor sod in Y1 that Kiryu used as a human shield.

Kiryu’s code of ethics from what I understand is specifically to murder. He has killed in self defense on-screen, but refuses to kill in cold blood. It’s why Amon was still alive after six games.

Also Yakuza 4 on PC has a mod to restore Tanimura's old face and voice. Honestly tho I prefer his newer face at least, if only because his old Narimiya face and haircut looked a bit to much like a 14 year old. But hey.

Also also, Tehsnakerer is well into finishing up his Yakuza 5 vid, so expect that in the next...I wanna say month or so?
