King Of Fighters general

A lot of this guy's TAS matches are about what you'd expect but every so often they're pretty incredible.

Terry Bogard confirmed as DLC for Smash.

I'll admit, I get a bit hot seeing *some* smash dudes go "wtf is terry?" "Boring, another ryu smh" "lame pick." Dude is a fighting game legend thank you very much.

Terry Bogard is the litmus test to distinguish between smash players and fighting game players.

No point in being elitist about it. Enjoy that he's there and ignore people who don't want him in.

Hmmm I'm trying to decide if I should get K Of 98UM for the PS 4. I have the XBL version but that one is not too good a port as it's missing some of the added features(like the arranged soundtrack for example) and isn't even translated fully lol.

The PS 4 version of 98UM is basically the PS 2 version emulated. There's no online play sadly but you get 3D stages, arranged music and colour edit.

The PC version is the Xbox 360 version but Code Mystics actually translated it fully. They're good guys.

Admittedly the arranged music is a bit of a deciding factor. I love fooling around in color edit as well.

It's a bit hard to go back to original fairy after the arranged version. And still green arranged ungh so want...thing is 15 bucks is kinda pricey for a prettiter port of what I already have that's playable so I'll wait until it goes on sale again.

OMG does the start of the opening for KOF 94 sound like Brak from Space ghost coast to coast/cartoon planet/the Brak Show to anyone else?

Also having never actually played 94 before I gotta say, FF-excuse me. "Team Italy" theme is pretty hype. Korea's theme is oddly dark too, and rugal's intermission music is still fittingly sinister.

Really though, hoping the 94 FF theme is in smash haha. CMON RED!

Yeah, I can't get enough of colour edit in any fighting game, but since it prevents companies from making too much money on bad DLC palettes, we probably won't be seeing it again.

And yeah KOF music tends to sample a lot of vocals and stuff. Look out for Iori's KOF 95 theme where some woman keeps repeating Sherlock Holmes' address or the bridge level from Neowave where the radio jockeys insist you get naked and stand in front of your radio

At most, I think we'll get maybe a teaser trailer. They just announced that it was in development last month.

Can't believe I slept on AOF team's 96 theme for so long.

It's probably one of my favorites for them. If not my favorite. That whole stage was cool. It's crazy how good SNK's level of detail was in their stages. Even now some of the orochi saga levels look cool. They just ooze atmosphere and feel soulful.

When a Nintendo Switch can make a better looking Terry model than your shiny PS4, time to rethink your presentation. And no, "small struggling company" isn't an excuse.

Small struggling company sounds like a good excuse to me. Also they're swapping to Unreal for the next game, using their Sam Sho experience.

I'm also one of the people who, while I highly respect the sprite animation of XIII, I thought the artstyle and the designs were garbage. XIV, while of course having bad models I felt had an artstyle and design ethos much more in line with what the series was. I also feel like the animation for XIV was better than people gave it credit for.

I've just recently finished the KOF Destiny series, and I mostly like what I saw so far (except some character models, like Beni's hair). That said, I take issue with Terry's unimpressive Engrish and Ryo getting the shaft. I guess that's what you get for being the inspiration for Dan Hibiki.

Funny I just played the demo for 14 last night and I was like, "wait, this game looks a lot better in motion than I remember seeing from vids." In fact it feels really good though TBH. I feel some of the character designs are a step down and KOF 13 is overall more visually impressive. Kyo especially looks terrible IMO and it's probably my least favorite look for him yet. The gameplay for 14 is great though and as long as they improve the character models 15 + fix some of the guys' fashion sense we should be in good shape.

For what it's worth Ralf and Clark probably look their best in 14. I hate Iori's outfit though because I feel it doesn't fit him much and doesn't even adhere to his usual color scheme. And shunei is just a walking disaster, complete failure of a visual design IMO, which is a shame because he plays okay enough.

Yeah, I just saw a video ranting about how terrible the guy looks.

man Kamikirimushi is probably one of my top 5 SNK tracks, period. Good to see someone else appreciate it.

You could tell early SNK had this really profound love and appreciation for Americana that shines in everything from some of their character designs to their music to especially that background art.

No. You can use it with anything that supports USB controllers. They mention plugging it into a PC but you could probably use it just fine on a Switch at least.
