I like it a lot, but we don't rename just because we came up with something better. We rename because the current trope name isn't working.
You can still make A God Am AI a redirect.

It's too close to the other trope. It could easily be a misspelling or a typo. While it's not a bad pun, for practical purposes I think it shouldn't even be a redirect.
This could be said of the current name as well, you know. Anyway, we don't rename things so carelessly. The trope is fairly healthy so the name doesn't seem to be stopping anyone.
(I do, however, mistype 'I' as 'Ai' based in the pronunciation sometimes, actually. I also usually do notice it in time, tough.)
It's incorrect grammar...would be A God Is AI.
Rhymes with "Protracted."This title has brought 204 people to the wiki from non-search engine links since 20th FEB '09.
@Troacctid: Yes, but then it's further than the thing it is punning upon.
@all, Ok, it was just a thought I had, I'll see about making a redirect.
I would rather see it as God Is An AI, if I take your intent correctly. But I think that reverses the cause and effect of the trope.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"That was actually my issue with Deus Est Machina, as it means "God is a machine," where as my suggestion is playing with the term A God Am I, using the phonetic resemblance between "ai" and "I"
A God Am AI is a funny redirect, but the current name is both witty and clear. Don't change it.

"A God Am I" is grammatically incorrect in my opinion.
There's no "your opinion" about it. It's grammatically incorrect.
I'm assuming it's either a pre-existing phrase or a reference to something, but the article doesn't seem to give the trope namer.
No it's not, it's just a object-verb-subject instead of subject-verb-object construction. Nothing ungrammatical, just esoteric. I Am A God is the familiar formation.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"OK, sorry about that. English doesn't use that type of construction, though. If I saw someone use it, I would assume they were bad at the language.
Is it just a snowclone of A Winner Is You?
Are we talking about A God Am I here? I seem to recall it's Biblical, but don't quote me on that.
At any rate, I think we're done here.
English does use that kind of construction, and frequently. The problem with A Winner Is You isn't the word order. It's the fact that they used Is instead of Are. The word order is correct. It's just not common.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickFair enough, you're right.
I still want to know where it's from. (If it's from The Bible, I've certainly never heard it. The closest I can think of is "I am what I am", which isn't very close at all.)
It's not directly from the Bible, it just references the archaic, hammy speech style that many examples try to invoke, like:
"Thou shall kneel before me! FOR A GOD AM I!!!! *maniac laughter*"

Bump. Any other problems?
Just a thought I had, but "A God am AI" might be a better name. It doesn't rely on someone knowing dog latin relating to the term "deus ex machina," Deus Est would mean, as far as I can tell "God is," implying a trope where god is a giant machine, rather than a super computer proclaiming itself god, and "A God am I" relates more directly to another trope name, A God Am I, and provides a nice little pun, whether it's read "A.I." or "Ai."
Like I said, just a thought, wondered what others think of the suggestion.
