I dunno. Maybe because "I" was in there and I saw a few times in "related to" pages where it was used at the end of the sentence.
Fast Eddie was the one who submitted a custom title request and, rather unilaterally, declared the matter to be resolved.
Me, I rather disagree with the choice of invoking Word of Mod and using a custom title here — the charge was Verbal Tic and pothole abuse, and custom titles do not fix pothole abuse.

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.It's again one of those cases where I would have pretty much agreed with FE if he hadn't OrwellianRetconed the wiki to his tastes again. I mean, "Nudge" is actually conciser. The "I" (and the "You" for that matter) in the trope name did cause some weird issues, usage-wise, that weren't easy to distinguish at a glimpse or to clear out. It sounded much like a Stock Phrase. But I strongly disagree with it having been renamed via the custom title feature — how do I actually write a pothole mentioning "if you know what I mean" now? Even if I spell it out, the new custom trope will still show up instead.

Fanfic Recs orwellianretcon'd: cutlocked for committee or for Google? This is even worse than just not fixing the problem.
This solution keeps all the misused potholes as they are, and systematically replaces all the correct, listed-as-trope entries, that are actually related to the phrase appearng in-universe.
Potholing seems to work fine.

"It takes an idiot to do cool things, that's why it's cool" - Haruhara HarukoThe problem is that in order to refer to the phrase I have to be redundant, and even then it doesn't work:
IfYouKnowWhatIMean ==> If You Know What I Mean
If You Know What I Mean ==> If You Know What I Mean
If You Know What I Mean ==> If You Know What I Mean
And That's Terrible. Last time I checked, we explicitly support refering to renamed tropes by their old titles (just like any wiki, by the way), as those are not incorrect.

Fanfic Recs orwellianretcon'd: cutlocked for committee or for Google?Custom titles do not affect piped links, only Wiki Words.
- IfYouKnowWhatIMean -> If You Know What I Mean
- If You Know What I Mean -> If You Know What I Mean
- Pothole text -> Pothole text
Hmm. Apparently it affects curly braces too. That could present an issue here and there....

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.As I have shown above, that is not the case. Lemme quote it even better for you:
[=If You Know What I Mean ==> If You Know What I Mean = ] =]
If You Know What I Mean ==> If You Know What I Mean
(remove the extraneous space in the syntax).
Fanfic Recs orwellianretcon'd: cutlocked for committee or for Google?Oh, so custom titles only take effect when the label (from whatever means) matches the default capitalization for the link text? So that's how it works.
So then, it will not affect curly braces if you have prefixes or suffixes attached. E.g: If You Know What I Meant -> If You Know What I Meant
Capitalization also matters — e.g. using curly braces: If You Know What I Mean

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.I've always been against the auto name changes (If only for alphabetizing sake), but this seems to completely fail at what it was meant to do. Bad potholes stay used in a sentence examples make no sense.
I agree.
Wait, what? Aw, man.
(I think that we shouldn't be using the Custom Title thingy for renaming, cause then sentences won't make sense.) :s
Excuse me? Was there some sort of misuse of If You Know What I Mean? Because I, from a biased standpoint, don't think that 'Nudge' works any better than the previous name.
Please consider supporting my artwork on PatreonThe original claim was it being used as a Troper Verbal Tic, not unlike previous cases such as So Yeah or I Am Not Making This Up.
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.I've also never noticed any problem with this trope. And, as it was said, this 'solution' fail to solve the alleged problem anyway.
The only misuse I see is by those with more unsavory thought processes turning some ineligible examples into a "That's What She Said". But that's often very rarely, and it's not as though "If You Know What I Mean" is used for "I don't know how to explain this but you get the idea". It was never used that way, unlike "So Yeah" which meant "I son't know how to finish this sentence but you get the idea".

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.The example for Whose Line Is It Anyway is a good one. They literally have a game CALLED "If You Know What I Mean" which matches this trope perfectly, and I fear redirect linking may not make it entirely clear it's an example.
Umm, what happened here? After 5 posts, it got renamed despite there being no evidence of misuse or being a Verbal Tic, and it was done with a custom title, even though that is not what custom titles are for. Why?
