Really sorry to hear about all that, Wolf. I hope everything works out for you without too much undue stress. Best wishes.

Will, I believe you're up in the Wasteland group.

edit: ah, I see you're on top of that.

You know at this rate we're just going

"Aha! You can't find us! We got super tech/magic that makes you invisible!"

"Aha! But I have a dog!"

"Fuck."

Aynara still hasn't figured out who's responsible for the eldritch activity.

If not for this anchor I'd be dancing between the stars. At least I can try to write better vampire stories than Twilight.

Was it my turn to post in the Wasteland group, and the ship group too? I lost track.

Also, if everyone is fine with it, we can make a short time skip on the Scar groups.

@Pyxo: For the spaceship, I haven't posted my draft in response to Joseph's most recent actions yet. For the Wasteland, I'm not sure if it's your turn, I lost track as well. For Chitara's Wagon, I'm reluctant but I'll go along with the timeskip if I'm outvoted. I'd prefer to make a post that will set Rosalind up for the timeskip before the timeskip actually happens.

@Apocalemur: Daird bowed out of the thread, Saen's last action under Daird's control was to attempt a healing spell on Zarokh. Do you have any thoughts on how it would affect the plot if the healing spell succeeded or failed? Either way, Rosalind might have a comment.

@Corvidae: You said I'd find out later how resistant Varg's skin is to punctures, well, it's later. Depending on how agitated Rosalind gets trying to stop Ozurr from smashing the wagon, Rosalind might accidentally slip into battle mode and assess who's the most convenient source of blood for a quick powerup, before realizing what she's thinking and becoming too horrified to follow through.

[up][up] I imagine it to be tougher than a human's, but not to ridiculous levels. Piercing her skin might take about three times the usual amount of force or thereabouts, which shouldn't be hard with vampiric strength.

Who's up next though? I think it's Wolf1066, but he's understandably busy with real life stuff at the moment.

Yeah, I'm pretty darn sure it's Wolf's turn at the wagon. If we were to treat his characters as continuing to smoke and watch (similar to how we're treating Matiu as continuing to cook and watch), then whose turn would it be?

@Will: Now that Nyorla's about to remove the bandages, what's the end result of some of Unit 09's blood soaking into the bandages and onto the pilot's wounds? Given that you said silver witch blood is used in healing potions, I'd imagine the wounds would be improved, but by how much?

Zarokh did have a comment about Saen touching him without permission, then leaving without a word.

In real life, crocodilians have insanely strong immune systems, and Zarokh is of a species that is not above resolving disputes with aggression. By this point in the day, he probably wouldn't notice whether his wound had been healed or not (since he can't see the top of his own head), unless someone pointed it out to him. He certainly has no concept of a "healing spell," since in his native universe, mortal beings can't really use magic aside from divination and special artifacts that have been granted specific powers by Divine or Primordial entities.

As for how his healing or lack thereof would affect the plot...honestly, I have no idea.

[up][up] It might be my turn actually. I'm going through some of the old posts, but I'm not entirely sure what to have my characters do next. I'll give it some thought and try to come up with something soon-ish.

If you're referring to the forest group, it would be Lemur's turn. Then it would be Will, then you, then Ryuhza, then me.

@Apocalemur: I have an idea for how it might affect the plot. I've been brainstorming reasons for Rosalind to want to urge everyone to go their separate ways. The first and so far only reason I thought of would be tied to Rosalind's battle mode accidentally activating for a moment. Assuming that Rosalind scans for who's the most convenient snack, she'll notice that Zarokh's scales are either still breached or suddenly fixed. She'll snap out of battle mode before doing anything more than notice. At that point, if the spell failed, Rosalind will default to wanting the different groups to go their separate ways, but if the spell worked, Rosalind might push that desire aside for a bit and say something along the lines of "Didn't you notice she fixed your head?"

[up]For the forest, I was hoping that getting Morpho and Carol on a separate rota from the rest of the group would have their sparring session over and done with more quickly.

Had a moderately busy day today, will have a busy day tomorrow. Planning on crafting a post tomorrow (assuming I don't distract myself), as I'm going to bed soon.

I've got Carol vs. Morpho on the top of my itinerary; it's literally the first header for my post draft.

And once more, I'm idly pondering the interactions of divine blood and vampires. I'm assuming effects would vary depending on the nature of the deity and the vampire.

[up]Now you've done it. Now you've got me thinking about my Mayatan twins. First off, I'd say any deity would be classified as an Uncatchable unless otherwise specified.

My Mayatan twins have a more complicated reaction than almost any other vampire, because of the complicated rules I constructed concerning how the Mayatan homeworld's twenty-four moon alignment signals their bloodthirst. As long as the moons are unaligned, it's easy for the twins to stay sane and in control of their bloodthirst, with each Power Copying they do lasting only as long as the blood from whichever individual is still in their system. The moon alignment intensifies their bloodthirst past safely controllable levels, with a craving for specific blood determined mostly at random from whatever blood they've sampled before. If the twins don't get the kind of blood they crave (no matter what they're craving) within a certain deadline after the alignment, the blood-still-in-the-system restriction is temporarily lifted and every power they've ever copied suddenly becomes available to them. If the twins still don't get the kind of blood they crave within the next deadline, they'll lose the specific craving and go after any and every kind of blood they notice.

Assuming the twins even get the chance to try divine blood in the first place, let alone survive the ingestion of divine blood with minimal agony, there's a chance for each subsequent moon alignment that they'll start craving that specific deity's blood again. Even after as much thought as the Web of Friendship has put into outside-the-box strategies for thwarting so-called juggernauts, they still don't want to be put in the position of facing the kind of juggernauts the twins would become under those circumstances.

By the way, all I did here was add the single sentence "Also, the twins are fanatic analysts of the horror genre" to what Sarquoql said.

Excerpts from an upcoming post:

"I'm not sure that's such a good idea," Arnora said.

"Me neither," Mequoql chimed in.

Arnora continued, "All the stories about this sword say that Vebrandr put a number of failsafes into the enchantment to ensure it was passed on properly. Destroying the sword might destroy the souls bound to it."

Mequoql added, "Where I come from, destroying souls is impossible because divine intervention always interrupts. I, for one, would rather not get a Bolt of Divine Retribution to the face, so let's not try anything that might destroy souls. I vaguely remember something about a way to help souls along to the afterlife, but destroying the containing artifact is not it."

Henry broke his silence with a sigh, then stepped towards Mequoql and murmured, "Hey, can I ask you a favor? Would you mind not telling Joe about this... second Joe, for the time being? At least until we understand what's going on a little better? I just," he glanced at the Joseph he knew, who was now looking back at him expectantly, but too far away to hear anything Henry was saying, "I think it would be too much for him right now, you know? He just got the one thing taken care of. Why dump this on him? We don't even know what it means. It might mean nothing. It's just... he doesn't need to be any more confused than he already is."

Mequoql blushed, the shorter and thinner fur on her face not doing much to conceal the flush of blue. "Oh, uh, too late, I already mentioned it to him. Oops?"

I feel now's as good a time as any to mention that Arnora doesn't quite have all the information about how the sword's enchantment really works. It's true that the souls of the previous wielders are bound to it, but that bond is only enforced when she's actively using its enchantment (i.e. when the blade glows). When she isn't using it, they're free to leave and visit whatever afterlife Frost Giants have (I haven't given much thought as to how the afterlife/lives work in this universe).

Of course, when she does use it (which will be rather frequent until she learns to control it better), the souls get pulled back in, regardless of what they were in the middle of doing at the time.

If I'm reading right, the Howling Void attempted to contact the Eyes and Teeth with a "melody". Why this particular metaphor? The Eyes and Teeth's response somewhat hinges on how precise a description this is, though it's almost certain to be hostile.

[up][up] Okay, that explains a few things.

[up]Why that particular metaphor? Because the entire concept of the Howling Void was inspired by radio emissions from Saturn and Enceladus. The Howling Void is one of the comparatively safer Eldritch Abominations, interested in finding a way to sing to an audience without breaking them. To that end, it made the Sleutrienns, as a way to study other species. Then humans happened to independently convert some of its radio waves to audio files.

Just posted for the Scar/Wagon group. Not feeling super-inspired at the moment, but it should be enough to get things going again.

As a side note, I just looked up some fantasy race size charts, and I don't think I fully grasped just how massive Ozurr is really meant to be until now.

[up]Yeah, I just realized that, since, IIRC, Ozurr's 24 feet tall, I'm less than knee height to him. Dang.
