By the way Masterofchaos, if I'm not mistaken, John and James briefly encountered Davey in Frontier at the start of the second morning, when they witnessed him in town chasing after his truck (driven out into the wilderness by Rip). I don't recall him ever having much of an encounter with them (forgive me if I've forgotten anything big), but I suppose he might have seen them around town, hence the familiarity.

Whether or not John remembers, or if the memory surfaces amid all the excitement is all you. Just thought I'd put it out there.

Oh, he'll bring that up at some point. Right now he's sort of in shock and disoriented cause, well, he just got out of mind of control, lol.

@Ryuhza: All right, since you requested a more detailed description of the transporter room, whatever I type here and now will eventually be used to expand the blurb in the story's TVT page.

The transporter room is built on a basic rectangle. One short end is entirely taken up by the teleporter pad, which is slightly separated from the rest of the room by an armored half-wall just big enough for three people to duck and cover behind. The half-wall has a computer terminal embedded into it and joins one long side of the transporter room, which is dominated by an arranged row of escape pods up to the point where the half-wall attaches. The other long side has a quarantine airlock directly to Sick Bay situated between the teleporter pad and an entrance into the corridors leading to the rest of the ship. The wall section between the airlock and the corridor looks like the corridor walls — the wall is rough and knobbly like an exercise climbing wall and there's a dead-end pipe with an airlock into the aquatic express lane. The last short wall of the room has a large garage-like door next to a series of smaller crawl-space-sized access panels, all of which lead to a small storage room. Two mechanical tentacle-arms have free roam of the ceiling and can reach any point in the room for the purpose of assisting cargo or less mobile people on and off the teleporter pad, but they're inactive and tucked off in a corner.

PS: I can't believe I forgot to say this, but Nyorla used the kitchen's decontamination station to get the mud out of her fur before cooking the moufreta bits.

Also, I've made up my mind, Shale is separating from the parking lot group. With that comes a couple of questions. @Ryuhza @Pyxo: Is it safe to assume that Joseph and Nasur will clear the teleporter pad promptly once Maequoql asks? @Killer Clowns: So the Teleport Interdiction covers the Ghost Town, I get that. How high and how far does it extend past the buildings themselves? Even with restricted teleporting, there's still the potential (no guarantee) for pseudo-HALO maneuvers performed by Mayatans and dragonhorses.

High enough that they'll attract attention without proper measures and potentially risk getting shot out of the sky by appropriate weapons.

It was thought to be dead but here it comes, shambling out of the dark...

I've just copied a fuckton of stuff from the thread into my workspace - I see that there's movement in both parts of the forest and at the bikes and Chitara's Wagon - looks like I've got a lot of reading to do and some not inconsiderable amount of writing.

Sorry for that protracted delay, folks. Feeling a bit more creative now, despite spending most of this week in an unpleasant task.

Hope to have something up for at least the forest locations soon.

At least I can't say I'm stuck for having something to read...

Edit: As hoped, I've got posts up for the forest venues. Will work on the others later - it's now after 11 at night and my eyes are smarting.

Awesome, glad to see you back at it, despite the hardships. smile

[up][up][up]

Thanks for the detailed description. Color-wise, should I assume the typical sterile/industrial space vessel style? And do any of the machines beep and/or whir?

Oh, and yes, Joe will scoot as asked.

The aquatic express lane pipes are transparent and the small runner express lanes are marked with yellow. Other than that, I haven't nailed down a color palette more specific than a vague resemblance to Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Color palette aside, the aesthetic is supposed to strongly imply an ecosystem, mildly baffling to those who expect humanoid-centric design but making perfect sense when taking into account every last species of alien and genetically engineered or modified individual.

As for the sound, the engines generate a quasi-melodious hum pervasive throughout the spaceship. The computers and teleporter-clearing arms are quiet when not in use. The keyboards and trackball mouses sound like the ones in real life. I'm blanking out on other sounds, but I'll try to remember to describe cause-and-effect sounds produced as my characters interact with the machinery.

I'm not sure if I fully understand what you mean by implying an ecosystem but I think there's enough there to work with.

That said, I still haven't posted, and it's nearly time for work again. Won't be off until late, and if last night is anything to go by, I dunno how much writing I'll be getting done. Like I said, busy week. If it's not time itself keeping me preoccupied, it's tension.

Edit: Gotta work again tonight, and I'm spending some time with friends who are visiting for the holidays tomorrow, but I'll see if I can squeeze in a forest post between then.

@Ryuhza: Don't worry about not understanding "implying an ecosystem," you understood the rest of it and that's what matters.

@ Parking Lot Group: Based on Nui's poster listing the Ghost Town as one of the intended destinations, should I just move the whole group (sans Murquoql and the dragonhorses who aren't coming) to a nearby hill now, or send only Shale ahead and keep waiting for Ladytanuki to post for Nui? Edit: I made up my mind. [down]And yeah, it's your turn.

Who's turn is it for the Forest? Is it mine?

Wait, Web of Friendship didn't answer Adam's question, though.

The Web of Friendship's response to Adam is right here.

Mequoql twitched as Adam held her hands. "Uh, if you had claws in your fingertips like I do, you grabbing my hands like that would be rude." She hastily assured, "You're okay as is, just letting you know."

She reported, "Anyway, the other Joseph is okay, but still a lizard person. There was a close call with quicksand and a great big blob predator, but the other Joseph got rescued. My sister already warned him about Mael."

She tilted her head listening, then added, "Speaking of which, one of our agents just captured a mind-control victim. She's working on breaking the control right now. We've narrowed down Mael's location to one of two general areas and we've got a spy impersonating me while searching the more likely area as we speak."

I haven't seen ladytanuki anywhere on the forums for nearly two months now, so I sent her an email to see what's going on. If she's not participating anymore I think it's time for the Scar group to move on. I'd like to get back to writing again.

Still a great "screw depression" song even after seven years.

Okay, so I have some more Joseph questions. Mainly, will Older!Joseph remember ANYTHING that Younger!Joseph did? Like, will he remember being turned back into a human? Or Adam's breakdown after seeing he doesn't remember their friendship? Or is this some kind of AU and he'll have different memories?

I guess that depends. Did Joseph ever mention his friend Henry in previous threads?

[up][up]Now that you've asked those questions, I've realized I'm curious for the answers too.

[up][up][up]I already sent private messages to Ladytanuki earlier, but haven't gotten a response yet. I'll be thinking on how to stay flexible enough to keep writing whether she continues to be absent or makes a sudden return.

I can slow down Seenarnha's search for Frederick by sending bad weather and hostile critters into the rainforest, but if Ladytanuki continues to be absent until I run out of ways to stall, I'll probably have Seenarnha find Fred dead. @Will De Regio: For the first stalling tactic, do you have any objections to slowly thickening fog in the rainforest?

For the group traveling in stages from the parking lot to the teleporter pad to just outside Ghost Town, I'm already thinking of Nui as being in Schroedinger's Location — either with the group or Exit Stage Left into a bathroom.

For Chitara's Wagon, I concur that group needs to start making progress again. I already stated why I'm reluctant to time-skip, but perhaps we can get get the group flowing again without resorting to time-skipping. LATER EDIT: Whether or not Ladytanuki shows up right away, I think it's Wolf or Pyxo's turn.

Wasn't sure if it was my turn in the transporter room, what with the big group passing through, but I don't think that post will get in the way. If Nasur accepts Joseph's hand, or gets up by himself, you can safely assume that Joe will completely exit the teleport pad right after.

Heya

Posting rate is diminished at the moment due to it taking ages to fit writing the posts in around all the other stuff I'm having to do.

I'm frankly at a loss as to what to write for the Chitara's Wagon group and I'm in that busy time of year when the kids' schools and my work all have end-of-year stuff in addition to the usual expectations.

Add to that, I've been given notice to move house, so I've now got to add my least-favourite passtime (packing/shifting) to my already-frenetic schedule.

I'm still with yez, just at seriously diminished ability. The large groups - Chitara's Wagon and the hunting camp - have lots of things to respond to and, because there's so many demands on my time, I'm having to work on them piecemeal - which is really difficult because I have to try to get back into the space I was at after being interrupted part way through.
