Hello. It’s been a while.

I’d like to apologize for my performance during my first half-year. I had no idea how to interact with people on the internet, and I used an excessive amount of formality in trying to show respect, to the level of epic cringe. I believe I came off as mocking, and for that, I apologize. I had no mocking intent.

I was incredibly paranoid about the quality of my content, and badgered y’all constantly about it (probably due to some deep seated insecurity I don’t know about). That was unacceptable, and I apologize.

I also apologized constantly for things that weren’t really violations (yea, catch-22 here, “how can he apologize for apologizing and have us believe us this time?” but if you’ll believe me, I’m legit now). While I’ll admit I didn’t exactly know proper procedure, I should have learned the ropes via experience, the wiki, and trial and error, rather than apologizing every 10 seconds for nothing. I delegitimized my words and brought you frustration. For that, I apologize.

This is where it gets a little weird: I believe I like the concept of TF more than your average joe, and I had a “reaction formation” to it (for people that don’t know random psychology terms, basically a fear of a desire) and dumped it onto my character. It affected my writing, plots, and interactions quite negatively. I didn’t recognize it for what it was, but I let it mess with your enjoyable time, and for that, I apologize.

I’m sure I sucked in many ways even I don’t know. Feel free to bring them to light (preferably privately) and I’ll gladly acknowledge them.

That said, I believe I’ve matured a little bit, and learned a few things about myself, and might like to take another crack at participation. I know I tried twice before, and those fizzled out, but I didn’t feel justified at those times because I was both out of the loop and hadn’t said my piece yet. Now, I have. I completely understand if you’d rather not have me, for fear that my failures will tarnish my future performance or reputation, and you’d be entirely justified in saying so. I’ll still have said my piece, and that’s what counts. I hope that, with the passage of time, slight maturation on my part, and this post, I can at least be reconciled in my mind and stop thinking back to my stupidity and wincing. Thank you all for trying to accommodate me so long.

Do you think it would be wise of me to return? Or should I leave it at this, leave you in peace, and at least go on to other internet communities knowing I’m not held in disdain here?

So! We've just lost 24 hours of main thread progress. I managed to save some of the lost◊ but page 22744 is entirely gone. While there hasn't been major plot movement lost, a number of extensive posts for subplots were involved in the rollback. The current question is how we organize catching back up to where we left off.

Yeah so as this thread and the above post could tell you, everything done on TVT following 13:00 UTC on July 6th got eaten by a mass hard drive failure, including RP posts.

Our choices as I see them ATM are:

1) Try making whatever posts we were planning on making again from those shreds above or from what we can remember.

2) Make story out of this (ie. A Glitchmon ate it)

3) Some combination of the two

Attention everyone! Chapter 60 of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Reflecting Balance is now up!

Ah, this chapter is kind of special to me, and I'm really curious as to what people will have to say on it.

With that said, though, there's one thing I must ask: Do NOT spoil the ending of this chapter to anyone who hasn't read it yet.

I do want to know your thoughts on it, though, so tell me in private. And if you have any thoughts on the last few chapters preceding this one, I'd love to hear those too.

Quick question: is it an issue if I wanted to RP a scene with a couple of random one-shot characters (not anyone else's, just two I put up for this fight alone)? It'd be as open to interaction as anything else, but I had an idea for a scene battle to set up something for Will and his Pokemon later ( starting his Nuzleaf on the path to learning Grass Pledge).

A new character I've wanted to make for a while

Name: Jess Coleman

Age: 16 (birthday 12th March 2004)

Gender: Demigirl (she/they)

Ethnicity: Galarian

Appearance: Jess is quite tall and thin, with black hair and eyes that are close to being purple but are still blue. Her hair is short and messy. They wear a dark purple shirt and a black zip up hoodie. She wears greyish purple shorts, but also wears dark purple leggings because Circhester is cold. They wear black and purple sneakers as they’re good for running in.

Organization Ties: none

Region of origin: Galar

Bio: There’s a rumour going around in certain circles. They say that in Circhester lurks a terrible monster. It lurks in the shadows, it can travel anywhere in an instant. It will follow any who anger it to their home, before brutally destroying them with their psychic powers and taking all their valuables. There is no way of stopping it. If you anger it, you’re as good as dead. The last thing you’ll ever see is a pair of glowing purple eyes.

In reality, Jess Coleman, formerly Rose Coleman is just your average socially awkward demigirl who happens to be able to teleport. They’re Violet’s old friend who stayed in Galar. They accidentally became a local cryptid after someone leaked security footage of her accidentally teleporting away from a store and the rumours spiralled out of control.

Jess is rather introverted and shy, preferring to lurk in the background and watch for the most part. However, they have a rather vengeful side to her and will hold a grudge for a long time. The rumours that they kill others are completely baseless, however. They just take a couple of their valuables, if anything. She is easily distracted, especially by shiny things, which can sometimes throw off her teleportation.

Some of their favourite targets are thieves. She enjoys the challenge of stealing something back. She prefers not to reveal herself when returning stolen objects, and will instead leave it somewhere convenient with a note signed by a comedically named pseudonym. They may take a few other nice things from the thief's house if something piqued her interest. Her arsenal is rather unimpressive, consisting of a swiss army auric construct that she can turn into various useful tools. At times, they are a bit too confident in their ability to escape any situation and encounter some difficulty when they happen to run into a pokemon with Shadow Tag.

While stealing back from a jewelry thief, they found a tasteful black mega ring which Jess decided to keep. They also found a Galladite but have not tried mega evolution yet due to hearing various stories about horribly failed attempts. Jess hopes to one day meet someone else with powers.

Bio: After Violet received her Piplup from her uncle, Jess wanted a pokemon too. They found a Ralts in a max raid den and were lucky enough to win the battle. One of the other trainers in the battle had a dynamax band and was able to catch the Ralts for the pair. Robin realised they were an enby when Jess started browsing [genderwiki]. Robin fancies Jess and themselves master criminals. They love heist stories and are addicted to tea. They wear a Galladite (that was definitely obtained 100% legitimately) on an armband on their left arm. They have not tried to use mega evolution yet though, as both them and Jess have heard of the various accidents that mega evolved pokemon have caused, instead preferring to train so one day they might be able to.

Bio: Jess caught Dia as a Snom on route 8. She likes to look at art and pleasant scenery. She also has a very good memory. When Jess and Robin are trying to find a target, she will usually be the one to follow them, as she can blend in due to the prevalence of the Snom line in the Circhester area.

This time the flavor of Raid is forgoing stealth, it's all about loud assault. Busting in, breaking walls, and bugging out. The raid will be kickstarted via Silas and Priscilla discussing documents and will be taking place at a privatized prison called "The Wall" out in [Siberia].

Now that the two and a half month WBJ-Artfight gauntlet plus some FE zine work is done I reeeeeeeally am itching to get back to my Pokemon stuff and this definitely includes WAAPT. I'm already trying to post more often again and bring in a character I've been meaning to for ages, but I'm still recombobulating so don't be suprised if i start rambling in chat and solicit help brainstorming.

But yeah I wanna be more active again because I still have a lot planed and I'm FINALLY getting the energy and desire back.

what's the ruling on use of "beta" pokemon from the spaceworld leaks and other leaks from the last few years?

are they flat out banned? have to be "experienced" to have one? anyone can?

cause I got an idea for a character but it involves Monja (baby Tangela) from spaceworld

Yeah, we don't use beta Pokemon in this RP. We might reference them at most.

Is there a reason you want to use a Baby Beta Tangela in particular?

I just like it and the beta Tangela evo as well, but I'll change it to Budew or Oddish or something

Could it just be a newborn Tangela, rather than a baby-form? Maybe make it smaller than normal?

Same. And, rather than have a one word post, I'll ping ~Fishsticks 03 so they can see my question in response to their post a few posts up, in case this issue is affecting them and they haven't noticed to check the thread yet.

I wanted to ask about whether I could have a Pokemon in my RP cast use a move they don't normally learn.

I've already got a plotline in mind with Will's Nuzleaf, Dart, trying to learn Grass Pledge to go with his Monferno's Fire Pledge, and I don't recall anyone objecting to it. But that's also an idea for an ongoing story so I figure that fits with an RP. So, if not a "yes", then at least "not a no".

What I'm asking about this time is Fuka's Galarian Meowth, Tizzy, having Rapid Spin. It's not as big a deal as the Grass Pledge idea, so if it's an issue I can drop it and maybe restrict it to pure RP-scenarios where what moves he has access to don't matter. But Galar Meowths remind me of the Tazmanian Devil so I really really want Tizzy to have the move.

It's not a super powerful move, but I assume if it's a problem it'd be more the principle of the thing, anyway, so I wanted to get an OK before I started in on it.

Edit: Some discussion in the Discord chat showed me that Galar Meowth can learn Gyro Ball. So that should work in place of Rapid Spin. I probably won't use it yet, since Fuka just caught Tizzy and it's a TR move for Meowth, meaning it would have to be taught. Unless I can work out a way to get him talked through it mid-battle, but that might be a bit much.

Okay, for the first time in a while, I have a coherent plot idea! It's inspired by a certain game I binged over the last couple of months:

WAAPT: The Origami King

There's been an invasion of strange origami Pokemon! People are going missing! An Origami Togekiss, King Olly, seems to be behind it all, and the J-Team will have to team up with his sister Olivia to stop him.

How's this plot structured?

Ideally drop in, drop out with each "chapter" not taking too long in-universe so characters are free to do other things on the side after long enough. In terms of execution intended to be very similar to Crow's old TTYD plot in which the bones of the original plot are there but the fine detail meat can vary.

What about Super? We were talking about doing that weren't we?

It gives me great pain not to do Super first and I would totally GM it first... But adapting it faithfully would require a multiverse-tier threat and... we... just... did... that... for... two... years... so I'm saving it for later.

Are there any creases that need unfolding? (read: things we still need to work out?)

Plenty! I have a list of all the working ones on this Google doc. Comments are on and suggestions are appreciated.

When is this starting?

Once enough of the creases are worked out and once we find a good time. Pacing is intended to be lax and again drop in drop out to accommodate people's schedules. But I am looking forward to doing this!
