The writing process of "The Downer" was apparently kind of weird. Bocquelet himself said "I was all like 'let's do an episode about depression.' Then I realised I had no idea what I was talking about.", saying it started out "too dark" and "just lame". He also considers the whole episode's events as being Gumball's bad mood and nothing else.

Hey, since we did we get the full theme song over in the states? Neat!

This episode feels a lot like a Simpsons plot.

They tend to do the full theme on reruns.

Wow. This episode proves just how terrible Richard is with his role as a father. And after everything he went through in the hero...

Wow...I'm divided on this episode. On the one hand, Richard isn't a model parent, but on the other...he went all out crazy awesome to fix his mistake.

Ugh...so conflicted! Eh, 7/10 I guess.

Even the reruns usually skip the opening. Generally, it's only aired if they need to fill time (like the approximately one minute taken out "The Skull" or it's filling up a partial timeslot left from a movie) or seemingly at complete random.

Anyway, I'm sad "The Egg" was the episode they picked to move back, but it's nice that there will be two new-to-me episodes this week instead of one.

Tonight's episode: "The money"

After this, we finally get to see Rob again and what he plans to do with the Watersons

That frigging climax...It's like that one episode of Chowder Up To Eleven. That was really awesomely animated.

This episode is amazing(duh) and a great way to showcase why Anime and Animation is so expensive.

OK, first of all, who was Rob's evil voice? Second of all, I don't think Banana Barbara's painting came true yet. Third: 9/10, great episode.

Instead of finding backstory on Rob's evil plan, we see how the boys re-rebuild him. Strange.

Also, we end the week with a FULL OPENING!

It told you right in the opening: freaking David Warner.

In one of his very few comedic animated roles, at that. The only other one I can think of is The Lobe.

I did not notice that was him. Weird...

Anyways, is that, what, three major English actors on Gumball? First Brian Blessed, then Derek Jacobi.

I fucking LOVE Gumball.

I noticed "The Return" and "The Nemesis" both had the theme song play in the US but not the other episodes this week. So maybe they're finally going to start airing it for season four and on.

I wouldn't count on it.

I really like Rob Dr. Wrecker as a character. He sucks at villainy. He's well aware that he sucks at villainy. At any given he's two seconds from giving up at any moment. But that doesn't mean he doesn't enjoy his evil where he can get it.

What is this? I don't even?...

In case you are unsure of this, yes, this is a real thing. Its called Miracle Star, and it's created to support a type of milk brand in China. Scene by scene, you can tell what episode it's ripping off, but it does a great job of doing it. One thing that this series has over its inspiration is that the mother is better "endowed" than Nicole.

That's not too new. I think it was brought up in the thread a while back. Still surreal that they blatantly copied the show. I wanna know what they're saying.
