Huh, I was wrong about what it'd be. Anyway that's clearly very early art, there's a bunch of rough spots on it including the hands, sleeves, etc.

Is it me or is there a typo in the subtitles for a certain Nopon's name in Ino's quest?

The subtitles claim Ino's creator was "Oosoo" (a tongue-in-cheek reference to Soosoo), but the audio has them clearly pronouncing it as Soosoo, implying she was literally built by Tora's grandfather.

I thought it was pronounced the same way it was written. Different character. Maybe Tora had a kid?

Ino's class is a dodge tank, which is a plus. I don't think it's as powerful as Zephyr though, and its gimmick of getting stronger the more it's knocked out is a bit of a weird one.

From what little I played around with it so far, their accuracy is abysmal. You pretty much need to put accuracy boosting gems/accessories on

Also, after finishing the unlock quest, I couldn't help but think (mild postgame spoilers) "Gee, Noah, how come you get to inherit five classes?"

I'm a bit disappointed that it doesn't provide a Master Launch/Daze art as an Agnus class. But it does provide another Agnus Break art, and sooner than that of the Incursor.

And it doesn't need you to be on the target's flank, to boot

I imagine I'll be positioning myself to the side when using it anyway out of habit. This is certainly one of those quests/heroes that are probably way more beneficial in a fresh new save than when obtained in a postgame state (and not just because of that Scrappy Mechanic for mastering hero class access either).

It seems the Land of Challenge makes it so you can buy your way around it with Noponstone now, instead of stopping in your tracks to hunt down higher-level monsters for a bit and who will probably overlevel you even further. I already unlocked all the classes and was in postgame when I got Ino so I had the level-down feature, but this will be very useful for anyone on a fresh save.

Even at level 99 it's pretty easy to acquire/master classes by just picking on the level 98-100 Ignas and Tirkins in the Demihuman Gutter. You can even just auto-battle them.

I presume the Land of Challenge's Noponstone investment would be more effective when you have multiple classes to unlock. I spent a few and it didn't do much for Ino's class on an individual scale, but since it never asked me which class to make progress in I imagine it automatically makes progress in all that are available.

But for now I'll probably just do it the old-fashioned way (on a fresh save on Chapter 7 so I don't have the privilege of leveling down).

Did they nerfed the superbosses in challenge? Seriously, the four devas at hard is easier than fighting each of the superbosses in the regular game.

Haha, just saw on Reddit that Ino's creator in Japanese was named Gosenzo, to Tora's grandfather's Senzo. It's actually a brilliant translation gag: the prefixes "gou" and "oo" in Japanese can both mean "big". Big Senzo. Big Soo(soo). But yeah, the different name suggests it's a different person.

Soosoo did go into hiding after 2, so it's also possible that it's him under a Lazy Alias. Another possibility I saw was that Ino might've been built by Tora's son.

I love that idea hahaha. But really, child or nephew is my guess.

Technically yes and no. The death screams were already in the game, but it's new to us because they fixed a bug in the recent update where falling sounds would override death screams.

Hmm, that's how DE handled its superbosses too.

Thinking back on the ways this game may tie into intentions for Xenogears and Xenosaga, I remembered the speculation on Future Connected due to how it presented the Fog King as Gnosis-like in nature, with its reused Guldo model being a hint at the two worlds beginning to come back together and a sign of Annihilation Events to come.

I'm wondering if the apocalyptic combination of the two worlds is an expanded take on the Lower Domain collapse storyline from Xenosaga, with the world of 1 (people from an alternate dimension who are humanoid but a different species at least partially composed of Ether) representing the Imaginary Numbers Domain, and the world of 2 representing the Real Numbers Domain, and whose overlap with each other brings dire consequences.

Likewise, Z represents a Wilhelm Expy, as the overseer who administrates over the Collective Unconscious (all the preserved souls of the two domains) and against whom the heroes must demonstrate that humanity collectively has the power to overcome its faults in order to bring the recurring cycles to a final end and allow humanity to move on and connect in another way that isn't so self-destructive (with the Iris serving as a kind of UMN Expy that is a huge boon and also a double-edged sword that has some overlap with the concept of Limiters from Xenogears).
