@Parable: Pretty much.

@Parabomb: More or less, yeah.
They also threw in a bunch more Rei fanservice than was in the series, so... yay?
I know it's a tired cliche by now, but the fetishization of Rei seriously confuses me. What about her seems like good girlfriend material?
"Everyone wants an answer, don't they?... I hate things with answers." — Grant MorrisonYeah, it got old real fast.
No pun intended.
I can handle missing out on that then.
She's pretty.

I wouldn't say so. Although the main reason I'd recommend watching Rebuild 1 is the different characterizations. And Operation Yashima. But -shrug- is not that important. It's certainly entertaining, though.
It's not exactly naive. And it can happen. But it's tough. And definetly worthwhile.@Parable: The fight is probably on Youtube, somewhere...
Eh, might wanna skip the manga. Ain't exactly all that great...
What's the frequency Kenneth?|In case of war.^^^^^^YYYEEEAAAAAHHHHHHHH
I want to see Summer Wars. And Paprika.
Even if I find Paprika's plot perfectly comprehensible I just want to see it for the I'M TRIPPIN' BALLS HERE factor.

Parable: That's not exactly a rare characteristic of anime girls, though.

"Everyone wants an answer, don't they?... I hate things with answers." — Grant MorrisonOf course Gendo is easily my fave character in the show.

I've been curious about Paprika
Charlie: I thought on that subject of the firearms. The overall basic design and idea would be the same but things like exotic casing or caseless ammunition would be about as advanced as they would get. Maybe some more varieties of exotic ammo. They already have weapons that work in conjunction with cyber bodies and a number of other sophisticated pieces of tech in the show. The varities "body" weapons were very amusing. Like guns in arms and other things like that.
I also liked the variety of potential tactical and strategic options they showed using their various technologies including stealth. If you noticed their preferred SMG looks a lot like the P-90. :3
I liked their concept of the internet as well as the information warfare potential and issues that were shown but they could have gone into more depth for that.
I am going to change tracts to Gasaraki because it is a love hate anime for me.
They take a very real robot approach including using artificial muscles (actual research being done) and effects of tech on the pilots as well as the nature of the power armor warfare as it comes into play with modern weaponry and tactics. Then they had to go and make it all weird with mystical living power armors and other weirdness.
Paprika sounds like it would be interesting.

Who watches the watchmen?I want to se Paprika because well...anybody who knows me can tell easily why
It's not exactly naive. And it can happen. But it's tough. And definetly worthwhile.@Tuefel: Yeah, but their ersatz P90 had a weird very thin box magazine load in bullpup style from the rear and bottom. Isn't one of the P90s more valuable traits that the magazine runs topside and parallel to the gun?
Fetishizing isn't about good girlfriend material. It's about good boning material. Some people find the quiet waify type attractive, not that I understand that, isn't Rei like entirely emotionless? Not to mention she's very plain looking. Sex with her would be like having sex with a fridge.

I spread my wings and I learn how to fly....Nolan is in Paprika?
The extent of the knowledge I have of the film is from the clips on AMV Hell...
...it looks like quite trip.
Spain: Either way, I'm still confused. I still personally think 'girlfriend material' comes in with odd fringe people declaring that 'if they knew her they'd love her' and all that. I just don't see anything about her that makes her stand out to get such popularity over Trixie from Speed Racer or whoever.

"Everyone wants an answer, don't they?... I hate things with answers." — Grant MorrisonI actually have Paprika laying around somewhere.
I think so, anyway. Amongst a ton of other weird-ass movies.
I'm not claiming to understand it, just saying I think that's the idea.

I spread my wings and I learn how to fly....Charlie it is indeed but that is more to accomandate the unique firing and loading mechanism of that weapon. The advantage of a bull pup design is to keep a full sized barrel but reduce the overall length of the weapon. That is achieved by moving the ammo loading and bolt mechanims back farther behind the trigger group.
An example would be A M-16 and an M-16 with a bull pup. The bullpup would be noticeably shorter but would have the full length barrel but a more compact weapon which would mean full rifle in a carbine sized package.
Now that I think about it they may be using more modern ammo because the weapon magazines are smaller but still appear to be high capacity and very damaging even to cyborgs. My guess is that it is some sort of reactive ammo hybrid.

Who watches the watchmen?Petshop Of Horrors (mostly the first series manga) anyone? Wolf's Rain? Trigun? The Demon Ororon (manga)? ...Fullmetal Alchemist?
...I uh. Don't really keep up with new anime unless I'm genuinely interested. And manga is vastly easier for me to consume.

Parable: I think that it's more the «similarities to Inception» that has juancarlos interested.
the future we had hoped for
I also need to see/read EVA.
