BTW, unless Firaga makes sharp turns in Dissadia, calling it this trope is still a misuse.

[up] His entry does say it changes direction in midair, which sounds okay.

Rhymes with "Protracted."

[up] You didn't read what I wrote. I wrote "Firaga", which makes no mention of how it acts.

"Much of his moveset revolves around this, most notably his two Firaga attacks." Where does it say it changes direction in that line?

[up] In the line right above it. I figured they didn't want to repeat what they'd just written.

Doesn't matter. They should have linked that trope to the attacks that explicitly did that action, as that would have made a proper use. If Firaga does not do it in the game, it's a misuse, and you can't use the above line to make it not.

His firega fires balls in 3 different random directions the stop change course and go for the opponant. Kefka's style is all about things coming at you from different directions (some of his moves won't even hit you if you are standing still.

Okay, thank you for answering my question. But it still means the line above should be moved, as they all relate to the trope.

But there are still misuses, and even if some examples are correct, it should still not have "homing" in the pothole, as that is not the trope.

I'm astonished this is as close as it is. Do people just not care about the misuse? I don't think this is one of those trope names of legend that would/should have people bothering...!

Oh, there might be some cleanup to do, but I'm skeptical that any of the misuse we identified would be solved by renaming the trope. And not that many of the misuses were even, technically, incorrect. Since Roboteching is such a common feature of a Homing Projectile, I don't think it's a sin to link it with homing projectiles. Most of the Sinkholes didn't seem confused about the trope's definition—they were just potholed in an awkward part of the sentence. Would renaming fix that? Personally, I don't think so.

@Leaper- There's different kinds of misuse- that which is because of the name, and that which is not. This largely seems to be the latter- I don't believe changing the name would help it being confused for Homing Projectile. Also, I think this may be older than Homing Projectile, in which case it could just be that some wicks that were just "Well, this is the closest thing we have" weren't changed/people weren't aware of it.

EDIT: The length of the page and lack of page history before November makes me inclined to believe it is, in fact, a fairly new trope, compared to MMM and Roboteching. Things like homing missiles and such are pretty common, so there should be waaaaay more Homing Projectiles than that. Even if it IS listed as just a video game trope.

Now it's for renaming (14-7 when I'm writing this). I still like Robotech Redirecting Rocket, as it keeps the show the trope namer, and the middle word makes it clear it's about changing course instead of homing in general. The last word doesn't mean this is only rockets any more than the Sister Trope is limited to missiles.
