I guess I wasn't clear in my last post, it sounded right in my head but I didn't word it very well.
"Analay, an original fan character from a 2006 non canon comic. Do not steal!"This 2017 video on Sonic being cool popped up in my feed. The vidder argues that Saturn-era Sonic was cool, which is funny because Sonic was redesigned specifically because his classic design wasn't cool anymore... which also makes it funny how his classic design is currently treated as "cute Sonic".
I don't understand the official word that Saturn-era Sonic wasn't "cool" enough so he had to have a cool redesign. The angular look of the Toei Sonic and Jam Sonic are the coolest designs for classic Sonic by far. He just looks smug but adorable, without being too adorable like his normal classic design. It's nice to see that Hesse Sonic takes after them.

Someone missed a lot of the artwork during the JAM era.

YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Speaking of art, remember how the playable characters in the Mario & Sonic series have flags?
We alleged got a leak of all the characters appearing in the 2020 Tokyo game.
If it's to be believed, the roster will feature Jet the Hawk, Zavok, Zazz, Eggman Nega, Espio, Rouge, Diddy Kong, Toadette, Larry Koopa, Ludwig von Koopa, Wendy O. Koopa, Rosalina.
I suspect we'll see if an upcoming Nintendo Direct will either confirm or deny this.
That was actually pretty good
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does....nah, it didn't do it for me
¡PONLE QUE DIGA!:"¡HUMONGOSAURIO HASTA LA MUERTE!"I swear theseries' art-style of cutscenes has barely changed since Shadow the Hedgehog. The style has peaked and there's not much they can do to change the characters besides improve textures a bit. The main difference within the last decade is that in-game cutscenes look as good as the CGI ones.
I mean... isn't that a good thing?
The major art style change represented the franchise moving from 2D to 3D, a controversial move in of itself. But you could at least buy that "hey Sonic's hair is longer, his shoes are different, he's just getting older."
The art style changed for Sonic Boom and... well we don't talk about that.
Don't fix what ain't broken. Look at what happened to the Crash series. Changed the art style for no real reason than "hey it's different." And that sort of independent "let's change things up" thinking made those some of the least-talked about Crash games in existence.
I think the graphical upgrades from Adventure to Heroes to 2006 to Lost World are aesthetically rewarding enough.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!They could go stylistic...
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. They did more of that with Colors and Lost World, and people just complained it looked too much like Nintendo. In terms of art style alone with modern games, I have absolutely no problems, it's aesthetically nice.
"No will to break."Colors doesn't look like Nintendo...
People dislike Lost World's and Forces because they're so simple.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.I wonder how the infamous manhog movie is doing...
I actually don't mind Boom's art style/wardrobe changes - coincidentally enough. Sometimes you can get away with it if you don't deviate too much.
If they'd made a decent game out of it and bothered to come up with some in-universe reasons for the design being more Saturday Morning cartoon-ish beyond "it's a spin-off universe" I'd be happy, but video games seldom do that.
Oh of all the things about this franchise I never thought I would be excited about. the movie's going to be hilarious for good reasons or bad reasons. But hilarious nonetheless.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!I honestly like the Boom designs. I just wish the game was as neat as the show.
I think the current 3D designs are fine. Just polish up the models as new games come out. Nothing else needed, imo.
...It's weird having so many websites and no way to properly display now, lol.Same position as you. Although I never played the Sonic Boom games (I guess I was lucky I never played them, because I was never even aware of them before I discovered about them on Wikipedia and this very wiki), I immensely enjoyed the cartoon series. The designs are kinda good. I just wish of an update about the situation of the Sonic Boom cartoon.
"Scooby Dooby Doo!"The Boom designs werent awful. I just disagree with a few choices made. Knuckles' shape was a little too exaggerated for my tastes, and Sonic shouldn't have blue arms. Amy and Tails were on point.
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireBy "on point" you mean...the same?
Amy lives by clothing, sure.
But Tails was just the same.

YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Well designed. Amy has never looked like that before, but its fitting. Tails had aviator goggles with tinted lenses. Its something that says "I fly" at a glance.

Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireLittle clothing touches like that were all the Boom cast really needed honestly. Sonic with the tape and scarf and slight body shape differences would have been fine; same with Knuckles who could have been given some accessory rather than the upper body bulk.
Still waiting for a Legion of Losers movie...Good thing the Plane is used more than normal.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.I just found it interesting that the art hasn't changed much in over a decade. Other series, like even Super Mario Bros, have had clearer graphical changes. The Shadow the Hedgehog cutscenes, on the other hand, aged remarkably well. They look up to par with Forces.
Hey, check it out:
These smaller things were gone for a while, but it's been a while and now it's back.
They still seem pretty neat.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.The only Boom design I really disliked was Knuckles, and even then I might've been fine with it if his characterization wasn't (initially) so awful to match.
The standard civilian designs in that game/series probably could've been a bit more inspired, but when it comes to the main group they're more or less fine.

@Soble: because it's complete utter nonsense.
