Yes. YEEEES. I have been waiting since, like, forever to make one of these.

The premise is simple: you pilot a Zoid, an animal-themed Humongous Mecha. You are nigh-unstoppable, and can probably trample a small army. Problem is, everyone else has got a Zoid too. Duke it out with them.

Oooor you could go around the Planet Zi with no particular motive. Yeah, that works too.

Zoids can either be original, preexisting, or modified versions of preexisting models. No CPG weaponry.

Here's a list of zoids from a fan wiki. All hail the Wiki Rule!

I'm interested, but what exactly would we be doing? Running around beating each other up? And what about pilot creation?

[up]I'll think of the plot sometime later.

Totally jumping in all over this. Ever since Metal Machine Music went down I've been wondering where to drop my Artillery Command Gunsniper variant.

YES. GOOD.

I consider you an RPer as skilled as Argeus. Which is to say, a pretty dang good one.

...this means I'll have to redraw the technical readout for it...

Okay screw drawing. Bad experiences with that so far today. Textual description go!

Gunsniper AC is a variant of the tried-and-true Gunsniper to take advantage of the Zoid's relatively high intelligence and to maximize it's effectiveness in a command role. As a long-ranged and scouting Zoid it was already a popular choice for field commanders, and instead of allowing it to function in other roles the AC variant is designed to specialize it for the purpose it seems most.

It shares a lot of similarities to a Gunsniper with equipped with a CP-13 Wild Weasel, in terms of frame structure and weight distribution, though the similarities only extend to the basic structure. Instead of forward-facing projectile weapons mounted on the outriggers, there are a pair of howitzers mounted to elevating brackets. This is the new core of the Gunsniper AC's arsenal, giving it an indirect-fire punch equal to that of it's direct-fire sniper rifle. The pylon that would traditionally hold the Wild Weasel's sensor suite is instead upgraded with a variety of C3 gear, the antennas making it look like a massive barb angled off the Gunsniper's back.

The head and chest structure is modified as well; the cockpit has armor panels that can fold into place, completely enclosing the canopy when activated adding additional protection for the pilot and acting like blinders, closing off all outside light. When placed into sniping mode, the pilot no longer slides back into a cramped cabin with just sniper controls, he is instead slid into a miniature command center, with projection equipment for easy battlefield analysis and enhanced communications gear to easily coordinate with other pilots. In this configuration he can bring down the traditional sniping monitor like a periscope, and when in the cockpit with the armor blinders up he can enter a hybrid mode that facilitates the careful aiming of his powerful indirect fire weaponry.

These modifications require the removal of the beam launcher under the Gunsniper's torso, and the armor blinders prevent use of the machine's Strike Fangs. The missile pods and connected ion boosters remain, and in fact are better protected, as the elevation mechanics for the howitzers are firmly mated to the sides of the launchers and the pylons they are mounted on.

Ooh! I used to be on a Zoids RPG but it died...

Do we need a villian or something? I think I could supply one evil grin

Forbidden models are as follows:

FORBIDDEN

  • Geno Saurer, Geno Breaker, really, anything with a "Geno" in its name.
  • Death Saurer, Death Stinger, Deadborder, Madthunder, Gojulas Giga, and other ginormous Zoids. Nothing bigger than a Gojulas, please.
  • Anything with a Charged Particle Cannon
  • Anything with energy weapons (I'll make an exception for you, SOCR)
  • Everything else is OK. Models can either be completely original, custom versions of existing Zoids, or existing models.

Character guidelines

  • Please, no tragic backstories. I don't want a rape victim with Abusive Parents and leukemia.
  • Nothing that sets you apart from normal humans, like being a Zoidian or special powers.
  • No Mary Sues.

I don't want to grate against the rules, if you want I can say the AC variant replaces the beam gatlings with regular gatlings?

I made an exception for you. You came before I implemented these rules.

Well... okay then!

so totally going to set up the mecha version of Small Girl, Big Gun... but just because she's living alone doesn't make it tragic. I'm going to try to make it kinda heartwarming actually. No dead parents involved or anything!

I think I'll join in on this.

With a Whitz Wolf HSC (High Speed Custom). The original melee weapons, 4x Strike Zan Claws and Electron Bite Fang, are kept, as well as the undermounted 208mm dual shock cannons. To upgrade the Whitz Wolf to a high speed version, the Electron Hyper Cannons are removed, and low profile 250mm smoothbore cannons inside an aerodynamic binder placed just above the main body's shoulder joints are installed. Because of the emphasis on aerodynamic function, the cannons have extremely narrow range of fire restricted to forward only (But plenty acceptable elevation angle).

Additionally, the triple Ion booster is reworked into a dual Ion booster, taken off the middle of the frame and placed lower near the joints. Two large Ion boosters are placed just behind the cannon binders and flip out for acceleration to supersonic speed, with two Aero-fairings on the first two leg units. The extended thrust speed allows the zoid to be equip with slightly more durable armor.

My other signature is a Gundam.
