Ursaring: -The power of the combined attacks causes the Ursaring to disappear-

Well, glad that's over. I think we've exorcised it.

-Suddenly a whole bunch of ghostly Teddiursa and Ursaring appears-

Ana: -Charges up a Focus Blast- <I can take care of these guys!>

Ana, hold it.

Ghost!Teddiursa: <You must free us from our torment, the cycle of hatred must end.>

Huh? What do you mean?

Vanilluxe: <How come this stuff doesn't happen to other people?>

-The ghost bears than disappear, leaving in their wake what appears to be a burial mound in their wake-

I guess those mons were the massacre reprisal victims, but how the hell are we supposed to end a 100 year cycle?

Nondescript

Amanita: -blinks at the burial mound- ...Bury them? Or some of them?

-Phobos flees back into Amanita's shadow-

Route 35, some days ago

Various kits are grazing on the forest clearings near the route, some of them venturing into it to pester Trainers into random battles every 10 steps or so. Hidden between the bushes, some pairs of eyes are watching, paying attention to every movement.

Well, most of them. High up the hills off the trails, a particular pair of eyes that stands far above the others is still turning left and down hesitantly every once in a while, the small trees not able to cover the entire Druddigon's body. "<A-are you sure I am fine here, guys?>" Teala asks to the Nidorino besides her. "<I'm kind of visible here...>"

"<Worry not, Teala,>" answers Hamada, the leader of the Owsla. "<Hiding and watching is not something one does alone. Observe...>"

A Trainer and his Granbull run away from a battle after being pestered by one too many Nidoran♀ and the occasional Zigzagoon. In search for something more profitable in terms of experience points, they decide to venture off the trail and towards a hill, advancing quite a distance (supposedly) avoiding detection thanks to the Granbull's expertise. However as they take a turn after a random rock and come near a tree to take a rest, the Pokémon gets nervous.

"What is it, Marc Anthony? Wha-?" — the young Trainer looks at a nearby tree to see what looks like a spiky blue and red lizard, at least as tall as he is, standing by some bushes. "....."

"<Err....>" Teala blinks and grumbles, the Trainer not being really capable of perceiving her discomfort.

"T-there-there's a dragon there...."

While tired, Granbull stands before his Trainer and growls at the Druddigon. The Trainer is ready to produce a Pokéball - a large blue and red one. "If we can pull this it'll be the catch of a lifetime! Marc Anthony, can you know if it belongs to a Trainer?"

The Granbull barks and carefully walks closer to the tree and Teala. After a moment he stands in guarding position, attempting to intimidate the Druddigon. "<W-what are you, and why are you there?>"

Teala moves slightly, but as the Granbull seems to react negatively at it she stays in her position. "<Uhm... I was just training... t-they told me to stay here...>"

"<...They?>" Granbull asks.

"...Eeeeep!"

Granbull turns around to see his Trainer surrounded by three large Nidorino, an unusual sight in this part of the route. Before the Granbull can fully turn around and take position, one of the Nidorino hops away, turns, and with a swift move places himself in position to attack both the Granbull and the Trainer.

"<Now now... you guys are entering forbidden territory,>" Hamada announces, strafing the Granbull. "<Our kits are resting up there.>"

Granbull doesn't let himself be intimidated by the Nidorino's act, but he realizes the screwup they were about to make. "<We mean no harm, grrrr... we are just looking for battles.>"

"<Then you'll return to the route,"> Hamada answers, pointing with a paw to the route, "<and look for battle there.>"

"<Grrrr.... w-we could take you all... we do have some Ground mons...>"

For an answer, Hamada simply shifts his gaze at the trees for a moment, reminding the Granbull of the large dragon behind them.

"<...Fine,>" barks the Granbull, "<I'll move my Trainer back to the road.>"

The other Nidorinos step back letting Granbull the room to reach his Trainer. The human is quick to produce a Soda Pop to refresh his Pokémon for battle, but the Granbull is quick to motion for them both to return the way they came. As they do, the human turns back and looks at Teala, sheer confusion in his eyes. The Druddigon manages to wave her paws as a goodbye before the human is dragged away.

"<Now that was interesting... good work, Teala.>" Hamada pats the Druddigon carefully.

"<B-but... they made me... easily... I'm too large and distinct for this...> Teala answered, shying away.

"<Nonsense. You did what you were supposed to do. Shift his attention off us so we could sneak in.>"

Teala feels herself more let down now. "<S-so... I'm bait? That's the thing I'm useful for?>"

Hamada frowns at her, then motions for her and the other Nidos to follow him up the hill. "<Bait is something that you discard as a trap. Like how humans fish. You are a trained dragon. Don't let those two words escape your head.>"

Teala follows in silence for a moment. She ponders if there is anything really unique in these words. Nadia is a trained dragon. As is that Hydreigon who hurt her. She can't help but chuckle at the thought that yes, Woolly would probably insist she is a trained dragon as well.

After the group reaches the hills the watch for a moment as the kits and the Nidorina play around.

Hamada turns to the dragon. "<If you think staying hidden in shadows is the only way we can protect our kits, you are deluded, Teala. When you want to protect something, sometimes you have to engage yourself.>" He thinks for a moment as he watches some kits mock battling. "<The best of us are trained to put ourselves in risk for our kits... our our Trainer.>"

"<D-did Maekrite train with you?>"

Hamada seems to flinch at the question, as do the other Nidorino, but he answers nonetheless. "<Most of the important things he learned without us, but yes. He is trained to lure danger away from Silent, but that does not mean he won't be a pain on the attacker. He is a very good custodian, and I'm sure he'll do fine once he decides to settle down as well.>"

Teala lowers her head at the comment. "<...Settle down...>"

As the three Nidorino sit and look contemplatively, Teala shifts into a more comfortable position as well, the four Pokémon watching the playtime below. The good sight and extra perspective her height grants her allows Teala to distinguish several Nidorino ears and paws hidden between the bushes, cautiously observing the kittens play.

Sierra: (looks around) So, where are we? I'm not sure if I remember seeing this place on a map of Johto or not.

Vyvyan: <Hmm... Oh yes! I believe the is one of the Routes that leads up to the Johto Safari Zone! But this place...>

Vyvyan exmaines the Tower.

Vyvyan: <This place is... not on the map. It's also rather secluded.>

Vyvyan starts pondering.

-wandering around, not with Mix this time (the Eevee is doing something else), but with Breeze and Diesel, trying to figure out who to box for Mix-

On one hand, Slam won't do much...on the other, Gyru's got a type disadvantage...on the third hand, a surfer is helpful, and on the fourth I've got Marmalade anyway.

- Chrome, Lumos, and Styx approach Rhyme, who was sitting by herself. -

Rhyme: Oh, hey guys. -sigh-

Chrome: We were worried about last night. You seemed shaken by your conversation with that Nidoking...

Lumos: But why?

Rhyme: Well... I lived my whole life thinking a Nido's only duty should be defending their colony. But then Ion came along... and I realized Nidos can be happy with humans.

- She turns to the others-

Rhyme: So why am I not?

Styx: Well, think of it this way...

- She hops on Rhyme's shoulder-

Styx: I can totally understand being dedicated to a cause. I became a Sableye because I wanted to protect Umbra. But I had to accept some things as well. Like battling! Instead of feeling bad about it, I grew to like it!

Rhyme: You're point being...

Styx: You gotta look at it differently. Try viewing your team members- like Chrome over there- as your new colony. See if that helps.

Rhyme: Okay... -smiles- Thanks, Sableye.

Styx: No problem. And it's Styx.
