Past!Tracer: "... Iggy... Enough..."

-Recalls a wounded Iggy to his Pokeball-

-Still staring blankly-

<Past!Shaun: "... We could have helped him...">

<Audrey: "I remember that you seemed really upset about that afterwards, Shaun...">

<Shaun: "You felt that?">

<Audrey: "Well... My command over Aura wasn't quite as good as it is now, but yeah... It's kinda hard to hide your true colors from a wave guardian... Usually.">

I've been on vacation all week, and can post for a little while. What's happening right now? I already read the recap page.

We're in the finals, with me vs Fool, and right now we're showing PEFE related flashbacks.

Present!Tagg: If you want to survive out in the field, you have to be willing to do whatever it takes to secure your survival. Whatever it takes.

-Looks over at Iggy-

Fuckers!

Muddy: -Belts aside a poacher who tried to sneak up on him with a backhand- <Take that you piece of slime.>

Tropius: -Stomps on a poacher after blowing him to the ground- <These guys are low.>

-Stomps him once more-

<Really low.>

Okay, so where is everybody?

In the lobby, watching said flashbacks thanks to Cobalt.

-Enters the lobby, and sees everyone watching Cobalt show clips of something-

Hi guys, what are you watching?

In the Past

Poacher #2 — Just this little bit and I'll have reloaded... uh? What's that bright?

-Poacher #2 is struck by the Fire Blast and sent out flying; he falls over some ten meters away, with most of his skin already burnt. He's probably died on the spot-

-Some of the other poachers manage to gather near a clearing to make a runaway-

Random Poachers — My leg! My arm! My other arm!

In the Present

-Looking at the images-

— Yeah... there were some times our Pokémon and even us got hurt, but things like that day were... different.

-Looks down at Maekrite-

— Those were the times that made me thinking about quitting... but our Pokémon were quick to prove to us that wouldn't be needed.

In the Past

-I release Inka from her Pokéball; she stiffens her ears listening to the poachers starting to run away-

Inka — <What is all this mess?>

— Inka! Poachers there! They hurt Iggy...!

Inka (growls) — <IGGY??? They'll pay for this!>

— Look at me!

-I point to a nearby clearing, wave my hand with fingers separated, in a up-down fashion, then make a thumbs down gesture and pat the tree I'm leaned against; Inka understands the instructions and digs away-

— Tagg! Tracer! You still there?

-I move to a nearby rock to get a better sight of Tagg and see Inka emerging near a tree to the other side of the clearing and climbing her way up a tree-

Inka — <Taste this!>

-Inka leans down and sprays a rain of Toxic Spikes to surround the running poachers, following by using Reflect to protect herself as she climbs down the tree-

Poachers — Aaaahh!! — one of them gets stung and falls to his knees — Be careful!

Inka (peeking from behind some bushes) — <No more escape routes!>

Random Poacher — Careful! Don't touch those!

-Some of the poachers turn to face Tagg and Tracer's mons and hesitantly pull out some small guns-

Present!Tagg: The past.

Cobalt: -To the poachers telepathically- <You think bullets will work against me?>

-Blows them all away with a single Psychic-

-Inka sees the poachers being thrown away-

Inka — <That's not gonna be fun when the land... let's hear...>

-focuses ears; after a couple of moments of silence, she flinches, but smiles-

Inka — <So many, many bones now...>

-licks her paws and tidies herself, then growls and goes to look for Tagg-

Present!Maekrite — <Wow... mom was mean...>

Present!Algira — <So wait... what ever happened to those poachers?> — looks around.

Present!Tagg: -Hears Algira- I'll leave their fates to your imagination.

-Pats Cobalt-

Good job Cobalt. Now what happened to the poachers over by the truck?

-In the present, I give a wry smile-

— Oh, yeah... those poor poachers in the truck...

-In the past, after verifying that there are no threats still around, I walk over to Tagg and Tracer-

Past!Silent — Good work, Inka! — goes to pet her; turn to the others — Any of you have seen my Noctowl yet? Or heard anything strange? He was supposed to tell us where their vehicles is...

-Inka leans her head and demands that I pet her behind the ears, which I do-

Behind the ears? Aww. Just like her son.

Lake: -Looks a bit shaken by what's just happened.-

- HotStuff and I are still watching the flashback -

(thinking) Wow... Really amazing.

I probably wouldn't last long in a situation like that, though.

- Examining myself for a moment -

Since I'm somewhat thin, a strong enough Pokémon could probably quite easily snap me in half like a twig.

- Pets HotStuff -

I'll just stick to letting my Pokémon do the fighting for me. Teaching them new attacks, quickly coming up with strategies for them during the battles, and that kind of stuff. That is what I'm good at.

Cobalt: <One second.>

-Cobalt searches for Noctowl's presence and points his leg in his direction-

Cobalt: <Over there.>

-Starts running in that direction-

-In the past, Noctowl tilted his head 170 degrees (yes, that's almost 180 degrees) as he amuses himself with the situation inside the truck, safely watching from a high tree-

Poachers in truck — WHAT? I CAN'T HEAR YOU!

Poachers in truck — WASN'T THE BIRD SOMEWHERE AROUND HERE?

Poachers in truck — WHY ARE MY EARS TINGLING!

Poachers in truck — WORDS! THERE'S SO MANY OF THEM AND THEY KEEP POPPING OUT AND WHAT IS THIS DING-DONG NOISE.

Noctowl — <Would have figured they'd have lasted longer... oh well...> — senses a friendly presence nearby — <Weird, that's kinda metallic... let's see....>

-Flies to a lower branch and sees Cobalt, with Tagg and me following-

Noctowl — <Over here!>

Past!Silent — Pokéteco? What are you doing there? Where is the tr... wait... what are those screams?

Present!Tagg: For the record, like Silent said this is a fairly rare occurance. You'll most likely be dealing more with non-Vow respecting Pokemon than human threats, and even then only in small numbers normally.

-Hears the screams-

I guess we know what happened to the other poachers.

What do you mean, non-Vow respecting?

Ever wonder why a Pokemon once it's caught by you will more or less obey without question, with some exceptions? It's due to the Vow, a pact made between Pokemon and humankind thousands of years ago. Almost every wild mon knows about it.

-In the present, I turn to Mezzo as Tagg speaks-

— Have you ever read the documents at the Canalave Library? They detail the Vow there with a relatively good degree of precision, actually. — strokes Maekrite — It essentially establishes the terms for fair combat between a Trainer and a wild Pokémon that allows the first to rightfully catch the second. Provided a a certain ritualistic procedure is followed, that is.
