Despite having note done much of anything, if anything, Colton and Caliburn are present. They both bore witness to what had happened, and didn't say anything.

"Should we do something?" The Unovan asked, looking at the Kartana floating beside him.

<We can't chase after them; we don't know where they'd run off to; we don't know what they're up to,> Caliburn observed. <Best we can do is gather intel, organize and raid again.>

Several hours and no responses later, Halis falls asleep. Inside their Mindscape, however, things are bit... off.

Although the previous scenic hill and tree are still there, there's a very noticable crack in the sky, around which the air has turned a shade of yellow. The sun has dimmed a bit and blackened smoke is seeping from the breakage, and although it doesn't appear to be affecting anything yet, it seems off-putting and almost alien in a way... and yet, Halis doesn't pay it any mind, instead focusing on the fact that now Halter is also here.

Halter: "I was wondering when you'd show up. I've been meaning to talk to you about something."

Halis: "Huh? Halter? What are you doing here? I thought you were—"

Halter: "Don't think about that too hard right now. There's something far more important I need to point out... that thing."

They point to the crack in the sky, a small bolt of similar-colored lightning shooting toward Halter but fizzling out far, far before it could ever reach them.

Halter: "That... I don't think I even know what that is right now, and to be honest I don't think I could explain even if I did know, but for now, I think you should let me take charge of your conscious functions until you figure out what it is in here since you know yourself better than I do."

Halis: "Woah, wait, what? I thought you were just a hallucination or something. That's pretty extreme, honestly... Are you sure you'd have to?"

Halter: "I don't want to have to take control, believe me, especially since it's likely to cause issues later on. It's something I'm only considering because it looks serious."

Halis: "This is... uh... ok, yeah, maybe we should switch out for now."

Halter: "Well... this is the first time I'm doing something like this, so just hold still and stay calm."

Halis: "W-woah, wait, first time? Am I going to get hurt or disappear or—"

Before they can finish speaking, Halter disappears and 'Halis' opens their eyes...

...Their distinctly gold-ish eyes, looking around. Their hair has followed suit, though that's mainly because Halter quickly looked around and found a way to fade the color of Halis's hair to match their usual appearance, smirking a bit after looking in a mirror.

Halter: "...Might as well enjoy this while it lasts. I've been wondering some things, anyway."

They open the door, take their things and walk out of the Pokecenter, intent on looking around a bit now that they can properly interact with the world, but remember one extra detail and take out the PDA from before...

Ersatz Alliance

Mr. Bitey clears his throat and resumes.

So after finding clothes to wear so people would stop screaming and covering their eyes when they looked at him, the Primarina(?) went off in search of the prince. Finding him was actually remarkably easy considering the prince was like, royalty. Immediately the two felt a connection. The prince, because something about this odd stranger. The Primarina(?) because of literally everything that was just explained.

The two then spent the next month getting to know one another, and growing closer and closer. I'm gonna add all the fluff later bc I don't feel like writing it right now. But yeah they hang out together but at the end of the day the Primarina(?) hesitates right as the deadline is about to pass.

The prince leaned in to kiss the Primarina(?) right as the sun was about to set on the final day when the spell abruptly ended.

In a poof of smoke, the Primarina(?) becomes... A human. But with the bottom half of a Primarina.

Prince: "???"

Primarina(?): "???"

"What the fu- oh my gods I can talk again"

The Sea Witch rose out of the water, cackling evilly.

Sea Witch: <AHAHAHAHAHAHA! Now what will the prince think! You're a horrible abomination!>

Primarina(?): "..."

"No I'm really not..??? Is this what you meant by unlovable and terrifying because it's not like you really changed my face or anything. Walking's going to be annoying but I can get a wheelchair and just say I got an injury or something."

Prince: "Hey is that Dhelmise trying to talk to us"

Primarina(?): "Yeah babe it's about this tail I just got, don't worry about it I'll handle this."

Prince: "O-okay then. I don't really mind the tail I guess but I'm really confused??"

Primarina(?): "I'll explain later"

"Yeah, uh. I don't think either of us really mind much..? It's more like a slight inconvenience than anything."

Sea Witch: <Oh.>

<Uh. Okay then. Well this has gotten awkward so I'm just gonna go.>

The Sea Witch then sank back into the ocean.

Primarina(?): "... Where were we again?"

And then the prince leaned in and kissed the Primarina and they lived happily ever after!

Mr. Bitey looks up at Julius expectantly.

Cady: Ok then, Apollo, use thunder wave!

-Apollo unleashes a wave of electricity, paralysing the Skarmory.-

Steven: Skarmory, use spikes!

-The Skarmory manages to summon a few spikes, which are now scattered over the battlefield.-

Cady: Now... Apollo! Air slash!

Apollo: <Lah di dah~>

-He flings two blades of air at the Skarmory, causing it to flinch.-

Lila: It's the paraflinch strategy...

Kat: Scummy as heck, but it works...

Two guys in suits arrive to a startling and saddening scene.

Reynard: Something is not right here, Jackson. What happened. We saw smoke from a couple of blocks away and—we're too late, aren't we?

Me: -yelling- LISTEN UP! I DON'T KNOW WHO YOU ARE OR WHAT YOU WANT WITH OUR FRIEND OR THE Z-CRYSTAL... But I know one thing...

-I take a deep breath and let out a Skyward Scream-

Silversmith did not share Ian’s rage. He didn’t exactly know Merlin well. As far as he was concerned, the Macrauls were probably still deprived of value, and that was victory to him. He didn’t say any of this though. The fact that the raid was over brought his adrenaline levels down, thus reminding him of his hunger. He quietly slipped away to follow through on Reynard’s earlier request. After what seemed like a little too long, he returned with pizza and the company credit card, returning it to Reynard with a solemn look.

Me: -I look back down at my feet- We'll just have to carry on... for Merlin...

He wouldn't want us to sit around and feel sorry for ourselves...

He'd want us to stay strong...

He'd want us to always keep fighting...

For we J-Teamers are never alone...

Merlin's counting on us...

So what if our morale is a bit shaken? Who cares? We still have each other... and that is what REALLY COUNTS!

Reynard: Still, as much as it hurts, it'll do us no good to mope around here for long until we figure out who that fellow was that took off with Necrozma's crystal and Merl and find out where they went. And from what I've heard you don't just apply to the J-Team. You keep getting roped into their adventures over and over again and it just sticks.

Marius, in the drone: Sir, we've found that the security system has been disabled. Shall we invite the gendarme for their opinions.

Lowell: Not for now, Marius. I'm still trying to find the words to explain this to Ludovic and Cayenne.

He looks at the doors.

Lowell: And those were Great Uncle Fabien's favorite doors.

Turns out we didn't need the bail money. We managed to escape with the Ultranecrozium-Z, but then some numskull tried to blow us to the Distortion World with their Weezing, took the Crystal and kidnapped Merlin as well!

Other than that, the raid went well...

How is research on the gem?

Silversmith finally got some food in his belly and could think clearly.

Silversmith: "Roped in. I see... "

He considered whether or not he wanted anything more to do with the J-team. On the one hand, they were a great force for good. On the other hand, risk. ...There were to many factors to consider, he couldn't simply make a decision now.

Silversmith: "Doctor Albright, do I have any more obligations as assistant to fulfill?"

Silversmiths never welsh on agreements.

Kat: Yeah. Just ate. Guess no one noticed we didn't pay.

Reynard: Well, there's nothing much else we can do. Once the Petersens are done with their tour, I guess we could call in a favor and see if they can help you get to wherever your home is. If anything, legally, I owe you a day's wage.

Priscilla: Well, I've gotten initial tests and so far they've noticed very few anomalous properties in its composition. The base of the rock seems to be as it is, just quartz, with a spiral region in the center on an undescribed material. They think it might be faller debris from one of the rifts. But here's the funny thing. My grumpig Pyggly started acting weird around it, and the only thing we could explain was that it affected her ability to properly control her psychic abilities. You wouldn't happen to have psychic abilities yourself, would you?

Priscilla: We're still waiting on the rest of the team to test it, but if I'd hazard a guess, it might have something to do with psychics. It definitely didn't hypnotize her the way it did you but April 1st is a very anomalous day and we haven't gotten clearance for safe pokémon and human testing until Pyggly gets the bill of health from Nurse Joy.
