-Claps- "Well then! It's always Protect that screws me over. Though I admit Attract is kind of cheap. I made a strong come back but in the end it wasn't quite enough. Good job Tagg, excellent job."

Forte: Huh? What do you mean, Herbert, Crewe, and you?

-while Forte talks to Straw, a particular Umbreon is approached by a particular Eevee-

Sirius: <Uncle Sunny, what do you think I should evolve into?>

Sunny: <You should evolve into an Umbreon! The moonlight is a symbol of true love!>

Sirius: <Um... what does love have to do with evolving?>

Sunny: <Oh, don't you know? It was the love between your parents that made them evolve into Umbreon together!>

Sirius: <Really?>

-Sunny nods-

Sunny: <The power of love can do anything!>

Sirius: <But I'm not sure if I want that...>

"<... Fair enough.>" said Seth, with a shrug "<Anyway, we should be trying to find ice cream.>"

Ever's Mindscape

<… Why does Ever get Star Wars in his brain, and I only get awful stuff?>

-she notices the movement, ears pricked, and starts scrambling towards it-

Crewe's Mindscape

-as soon as Ever touches the statue, he is thrust into a new vision. While it is altogether strange, it is not terribly unpleasant-

-he seems to be floating some feet off the ground, looking down a newborn baby held in a man's arms-

???: Isn't he lovely, Isolde?

-Ever, who is now apparently Isolde, looks up into the face of a tall man who shares a strong resemblance to Crewe. If this weren't surprising enough, he is also almost overwhelmed with the strength of emotion he feels for this man-

-a feminine voice comes from Ever himself-

Isolde: <Almost as lovely as his father, Amhlaidh.>

-the man, Amhlaidh, gives her a look of mock offense-

Amhlaidh: Are you saying I am bald and fat, Isolde?

-another rush of emotion; Ever quickly moves a little closer-

Isolde: <No, no, I would never—>

-Amhlaidh puts a finger to his lips, smiling-

Amhlaidh: Relax, Isolde, I was only joking. I know you would never insult me. Intentionally.

-he winks at Ever, then casually brushes the back of one hand across his cheek. Another rush of emotion that would likely knock him off his feet if he wasn't floating-

-there is an odd sensation of something grabbing Ever's wrist, but there is clearly nothing holding him in the vision. The vision suddenly breaks off and Ever finds himself standing beside the statue. Beside him, holding the wrist that was touching it, is a tall, gaunt woman in a gray shirt, looking down at him with sad, haunted eyes. She bears something of a resemblance to Crewe, but is clearly not simply her at a different age like Battler and Trainer. Her lips move and she seems to be murmuring to herself until she notices Ever coming back to reality. She gives him a sad smile-

???: Foolish boy… I am the only one that should touch the statue. If you wanted to see the memories, you should have asked. Everyone else watches them. Only I feel them.

-she motions with her other hand to the far wall, which has been replaced with the image of the vision Ever was just in. A couch has appeared against the wall opposite. Ever may notice that when she isn't speaking to him, the woman is murmuring to herself-

You weren't half bad yourself Jacob. Do you have any Revives for your mons?

Lepi: <I'm getting that tingly feeling again...>

-Starts glowing-

Fool's apartment

Oh, a few weeks back we all ended up in our mindscapes.

Jacob: "Thanks. And yeah, I always keep a stock of Revives and Max Revives on me in case I need the-"

-Freezes when Lepi starts glowing-

"Oooooh evolution!"

Sylva: <YAY ICE CREAM!> -Dashes off into the city-

Regina: <No, wait! Sylva!> -Runs after her-

Seth sighs and follows after Regina and Sylva.

-Ephemera toddles over towards Sirius, waving a paw curiously-

-Ever stumbles out of the memory, breathing heavily and more than a little confused-

Ever: ...I'm sorry. I didn't mean to pry.

-he obediently moves to the couch to watch the remainder of the memory from a less involved position-

-as Crewe climbs, she finds herself confronted by...Ever. In an entirely normal sense-

Ever: Oh, hi Crewe! Everyone else is out at the moment, so they left me here to hold down the fort! Do you know where they went?

-The glow subsides, and left behind is Lepi evolved into a Polar Vivillon-

Lepi: -Does a bit of practice flight- <I feel so much more freer now.>

Lumiose City, Fool's apartment

-Sirius walks over to Ephemera-

Sirius: <Hello?>

Route 4

Jacob: "Whoa... that's cool. And I really need to work on evolving some of my Pokémon... you... Sakura, Hikari... Herbert... I can't be left behind!"

-Something clicks- "Oh yeah, that reminds me... speaking of evolution... have you heard of Mega Evolution?"

Sylva: -Narrowly avoids a Taxi speeding by and continues rushing into the city-

Regina: -Is still chasing-

Ever's Mindscape

-Crewe blinks as she comes face to face with Ever and sits back on her haunches, tilting her head-

<Um, they're asleep, apparently.>

<… Waaaaait. If I'm here, shouldn't you be in my head?>

Crewe's Mindscape

-the woman shakes her head-

???: Oh no, no, no no no, it's not prying, child. But no one else should have to feel the emotions.

-she looks over the statue-

???: I come in here when things seem a bit brighter, and watch the memories, especially…

-she pauses, only her muted murmuring to herself filling the silence for a moment-

???: … Would you like to see how she died?

-without waiting for an answer, she touches the statue, and the image on the wall opposite Ever changes-

-the wall now shows an image of Crewe, standing in the entrance to a cave, surrounded by a patchy Obscura dome. Snowflakes settle around her as what seems to have been a Blizzard attack fades. She has a wild look in her eyes, some mix between panic, desperation, and rage-

-she lashes out and the dome explodes, looking like it's about to come through the wall at Ever, but instead the view changes and flies backwards, as Isolde is thrown backwards-

Crewe: Leave. Me. Alone!

-the view centers back on Crewe as she charges, Obscura drawn up around her hands in claws, much like the ones she used as Darkstalker. The claws come down just below the edge of vision, and the view locks onto Crewe's eyes as Isolde sighs-

Isolde: <Oh…>

-Crewe's expression changes from fury to shock as she starts backpedaling. The image freezes as the woman takes her hand off the statue-

???: So much desperation… she only wanted to keep her loved ones close. She kept thinking, why does she want to leave? Doesn't she understand how much I need her here? She could have broken off the link she made to leave these memories. She didn't. Maybe she forgot. Or maybe she was trying to tell me how she felt, even as we fought…

-her eyes take on a far-off look as she starts murmuring again-

-she forms a copy of Sirius, and attaches a question mark to the end-

-Ever watches, silent-

-then-

Ever: ...Who are you? I didn't see you the last time I came here.

Ever: They are.

-he gestures to the dozens of unconscious aspects-

Ever: I'm always here. Someone has to be.

Seth pales a bit when the taxi nearly hits Sylva

"<Sylva! Stop running on your like that!>" said Seth.

<… Wait, you mean all of these people are in my head?! Oh Arceus, I hope they don't break anything worse than it is.>

-the woman gives him a small smile-

???: Oh, you did, child. You didn't like me much then. My name is Minerva.

-she continues murmuring; in fact, whenever she isn't talking directly to Ever, she's murmuring to herself. Just assume so from now on-
