Given attitude of some of missionaries, I'm not surprised it's risky for them.

Welcome back, crimson. Unfortunately, while I just came back from a church conference / camp, I don't really have any wacky stories to tell, except for some that don't translate too well into English.tongue

Medieval Church approved of homosexual relationships between priests and equivalents of civil unions:

[up][up]Actually, translation mishaps. (So yeah, they don't really work too well in one language only.)

[up]I'll link the original article, for what it's worth. (For the record, I think we still have an OTC thread for this subject.)

I'm back from church and wow,...that was an amazing talk.

This friend was one that was for a long time the most reluctant to take this on,and yet for that reason it just made it all the more powerful.

She brought a great point about all those out there who honestly do need something like this,do need to find a different and happier direction, and how no one is ever truly ready for that kind of thing.

I'm nutshelling because I'm not sure I could do what I just heard justice.

[up] I believe in Free Will. Why else do you think God allows us to think and choose for ourselves? Heck, that's the reason as to why he put the Tree of The Knowledge Of Good and Evil in Eden to begin with.

I guess I kind of have wacky youth camp stories? tongue

At the most recent one, I saw a priest dancing to 'Gangdam Style' in his priestly vestments. Which is not something I thought I'd ever see.

And I guess the games of Marco Polo in the pool count as wacky. There were about 20 people taking part, and every time it went on too long, the group leaders would start chanting 'Sacrifice! Sacrifice!', and grab somebody to throw into the person who was 'it'.

I believe that God's Omniscience and our free will are not mutually exclusive.

I dunno, it seems like just because someone knows what choice I'm going to make doesn't mean I can't choose freely.

But I've also found that this is one of, like, the few "Big" questions. Like, people will ask a strange theological question with weird implications, and then if you press them a little, you can eventually show that what they're asking is one of a few simple questions, the problem of evil, free will, and a few others.

Go play Kentucky Route Zero. Now.

good morning everyone.

Country Doctor. i think we could all use this one.

@masumi 5: God can see every possible outcome of every possible decision we make, yet He prefers that we follow him out of our own free will. it'a probably for the best that way.

[up][up]i have one too. a few years ago, my family was in charge of Vacation Bible School. the week before it started, we added in the announcement "don't wear anything you can't get messy in." anyway, for VBS that year we went with a superhero theme. every now and then each night, one of the staff dressed up as "Water Woman" and went to one of the classes with a super soaker and tagged as many people as possible [lol] i think that VBS was my favorite one.

[up] Yeah, one year the priest giving the homily at the final mass brought out a water pistol and shot people with it during the homily.

Oh, and here's the one I found funny. Our parish is run by an order of priests called 'oblates'. When we filled in the application form, the box for 'gender' had three options: Male, Female and Oblate. So apparently priests are a third gender now =P

and on an unrelated note, "oblate" sounds like one of those words that stops sounding like a real word if you say it enough times in a row.
