Ahh, console video games (or vidcons as I call them). the ultimate medium of expression, able to convey any emotion ranging from hatred to love, loyalty to fear, all in front of our eyes. Ah, and with lovingly crafted art, music, and the ability to control the action, vidcons are the ultimate combination of the high arts. While I tend to play the stoic, I will be the first to admit that vidcons haven driven me to cry, to scream and shout, to feel actual hate; such is the power of this force beyond our wildest reckoning. And here I am, before you, to temp your tongues with the taint of such a tantalizing topic.

And the Japanese, the true geniuses behind the world of video games. Pah, I throw my scorn upon such incompetents of the West who would mock the true art of the Japanese with 'games' such as Baldur's Gate and Madden. Perhaps it is that the West is not as intelligent as the East, but this is a matter for another day. Japan has given us such masterpieces as the Final Fantasy series, Star Ocean, Wild Arms, and of course, Arc the Lad. Yes, some of the finest vidcons in the world were created by Japanese. I come to you today to ask you in all earnesty, what is your favorite vidcon? I will reveal mine after the grand debate has illustriously begun, but not before the first poster falls victim to my plot of discussion.

In other words, this is a thread on an imaginary forum our avatars frequent. The topic can fluctuate, and its mostly just general discussion.

Yes, of course, but the trouble comes when actually trying to do anything alchemical with them. You have to arrange objects in such a microscopically precise manner that getting everything right would take too long to ever be worth it.

Anyway, does anyone have some sort of technology to, how do I put this, “see” memories of AI?

It depends on the AI, but I think that Sturmvoraus and I might be able to figure something else. But we'd have to see the AI in question before we can be sure.

Yes, I think we can help. I might be able to find a way to sift through their memories with the right tech. Especially since I studied consciousness transferal with . . . someone.

(With who? Go on, say it.)

With . . . William Heterodyne's wife.

(Good save there, Sturmvoraus.)

[1] Oh! Hey Ica, the AI I’m talking about is Kongō-Sensei. Assuming he’s a prayer machine with some advanced AI, do you think you have something that can at least access his memories to see who at least created him?

Oh yeah, maybe catch your friend up with what you know about me, Cinn, and the gems, if you want…

OOC: If you’re not sure what Phos is implying, this is a massive spoiler if you didn’t read Chapter 97 of the manga, but I’m referring to this Dr. Ayumu, the possible creator for Kongō-sensei. You may look up a translation for Chapter 97 online as well as refer to this character sheet.

Oh, thought you were planning to dig around in EV databases. About Sensei, I have no idea how he works - while he probably has an internal database, having it fill up continuously will probably make him run out of storage space soon. So either he deletes ("forgets") certain memories, or he stores them in an external computer. I might be able to help with the latter, any ideas where that computer could be?

[1] Yeah, I trust you with that, but I already know that crystal cores don't work in my homeworld. Other than that, I tried to dissolve some coarse gravel into elemental earth, and I got some weird deep-blueish mucus, which isn't what the book specified, but I suppose it works?

Oh, you're doing alchemy now, Stef? Mind if I take a look myself?

Sure, once I'm done with my linalg homework? Will tell you once I'm free.

Do you think you or Albedo could send me a scan of some of that stuff? I happen to be somewhat into chemistry myself even if it's not my main thing. While alchemy is seen as an outdated science where I'm from, it's not totally discredited and some stuff works. So maybe I can actually get something done with it.

Also, despite what I showed you with Barcelona, the scholars here aren't all fools. Just . . . a worrying number of them.

Er, maybe? How does one obtain dust of azoth or crystal cores? Because Icarus may be able to have that mass-produced by industrial means.

Dust of Azoth is naturally occurring as a rock and then crushed into a powder, and Crystal Cores are taken from Crystalflies.

Dust of Azoth sounds like ore processing. Can you tell me more about crystalflies - what do they feed on? Are crystal cores some kind of vital organ from said flies? Because if not, then maybe Tot can engineer a bacterium to produce the stuff.

Crystalflies are pure elemental beings that feed on elemental energy. Most commonly Anemo, but there is other types that have adapted to most of the seven elements. Crystal Cores are, as the name suggests, the core. They are essentially just the elements crystallized into a convenient structure.

I can tell you from personal experience it works on the same principle of utilizing a soul you would have to grow a whole crystal fly and then harvest it.

this is based entirely on my interpretation of genshin lore. seeing as all elements of crystal fly harvest into a crystal core with no difference between any i dont belive its just elemental energy crystalized but converted into something else

[1] Oh, alright. Your homeworld seems kinda odd from a physics perspective... I've sent a box with a mechanical lock over - hopefully at the right spot. Code is 6-3-2-8-6-5, there should be a copy inside.

The world would not be very compatible with Stefan's or Icarus' homeworld, then

[2] [3] Sounds like it's much simpler than engineering bacteria! I have experience with working with crystals, growing these yourself sounds feasible, to say the least.

Alright. I'll follow up when I get the box in the mail. Also, what did you put in that box? I just wanna know what I'm in for before it comes.

OOC: Well, it's a medium thing. An RPG video game like Genshin is gonna need a consistent system, while a comic book like GG only has to explain what's directly plot-relevant.

Also, what world are Stefan and Icarus from? Sorry if I asked before; I forget stuff like that. Are they your OCs?
No offence but I find it hard to do stuff with OCs here since I can't just look up where they're from.

[down] Thanks!

The box contains a copy of the alchemy book, as you asked.

For the sake of IU physics, a work's medium (or existence) doesn't really matter - I treat all universes as if they could be real in some form, and only consider how compatible the physics systems are, then I make compatibility statements based on that. That's an oversimplification obv, but I haven't figured that out to mathematical precision yet, so...

Icarus is from Dyson Sphere Program with some creative liberties, and Stefan is literally a self-insert from a universe that doesn't have this thread as an RP thread, but as an actually bugged thread. Does that clear things up?

On another topic, with my workload being almost all alchemy, I sometimes forget that, besides Chief Alchemist, I also hold the title of Captain of the Investigation Team. And yet, that title is entirely redundant when there is both a Reconnaissance Company and an Intelligence Company. Plus the Outrider (singular, as the division has become obsolete). I understand the subtle differences between the four, yet, at a glance… The Knights are extremely organized, and yet have this inherent in their structure. It’s odd.

I don't know what any of these four divisions do, can you give me a run-down? Could be redundancies in name alone, after all.

There's gonna be a games evening hosted by my university on the 15th of December - that's in one week. Some of you will probably not be able to come, but who would be interested?
P.S. Before you ask if you're going to stand out - I already have a reputation as the "self-insert" due to carrying the Battleslab around all the time and occasionally disappearing into thin air. Also, Icarus has paid the universe a visit, so I don't believe standing out will be too much of an issue.

Edit: On second thought, some of you - like Flandre or Albedo - might get a lot of attention. Icarus has told me that he's deployed VR rooms for the gem people, so maybe that's an option?

I’m not sure of the other companies’ exact activities, but I have rarely had to do anything as Captain of the Investigation Team, as Eula or Amber usually have it covered. The Intelligence Company, I can assume, has a distinct purpose, however I am not sure of what it is.

As for the games evening… I am unfortunately scheduled for an important Captain meeting that day, so I will not be able to attend. However, Kaeya has a tendency to skip out on meetings (which we all acquiesce due to his being almost as skilled as Jean), and I am quite aware that he is quietly watching the thread, so he may show up.

Alright, I got that book that Icarus sent me. I have to say, while a lot of the materials in these ingredients are foreign to me, from what I can tell it's a very straightforward system. There are a lot of aspects to it but the basic system is easy to figure out quickly. That's surprising given how a lot of other alchemy can be convoluted. I quite like how — for lack of a better phrase — user-friendly it is.
