ISIS is a fairly capable force as we've seen in Iraq. They'd be a tough nut to crack. Also, for reasons I spelled out earlier in this thread (the Moral Dissonance involved and also realiability issues) I doubt that Assad will get Western assistance.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanTHIS IS BREAKING NEWS!
Syrian rebels have engaged against the Filipino peacekeepers surrounded at Position 68 and 69 in the Golan Heights. Fellow peacekeepers from Ireland were able to establish escape routes from those positions.
I'm reading this because it's interesting. I think. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, over.Eh, I dunno if thats a good comparison. In Iraq, they're fighting a demoralized Iraqi Army. Yeah, they got the jump once on the Peshmerga, but they've since been beaten back by those guys, and the Syrian Arab Army is closer to them than the Iraqi Army. The Free Syrian Army is a better comparison...
Not to mention, the Iraqi Army is fighting back rather better now.
Schild und Schwert der ParteiA source backing up Entropy's claims There are no reports of casualties, and of interesting note Al Nusra was mentioned by name.
I Bring Doom, and a bit of gloom, but mostly gloom.Well yeah, why wouldn't it? Al-Nusra is the main islamist group in the area.

Could have made the Iranian jet a Tomcat! But, yes, it must be a little difficult with so many supposedly-opposed Air Forces aimed at the same targetsnote .
Keep Rolling OnIs there anything to suggest that the IRIAF's Tomcats have any air-to-ground capabilites though? The US Navy's didn't even get cleared to use iron bombs until the 90s.
I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiotWell, there is actuallynote .

Keep Rolling OnAbout time. And of course there's no US support what do you expect from our government actual competence?
Kurdish forces retake Oil field near Mosul. Unfortunately ISIS,in a tactic very reminiscent of Saddam, planted and detonated charges on the rigs as they withdrew.
ISIS has also beheaded a captured Lebanise soldier Can these fucking animals ever do anything original like oh I don't know NOT FUKING BEHEAD PEOPLE!! The have also released a video of 9 other Lebanese soldiers begging for their lives and urging their families to take to the streets. ISIS has demanded the release of several Islamist leaders as an exchange.

I Bring Doom, and a bit of gloom, but mostly gloom. So, I heard on the news that some rebels seized an ISIS laptop containing files on how to use bubonic plague as a biological weapon 101. Can't seem to find the article in question though. Anyone else familiar with this story?

It is sometimes an appropriate response to reality to go insane.Hear you go Apparently the laptop belonged to a Tunisian by the name of Muhammad S.
I Bring Doom, and a bit of gloom, but mostly gloom. Thanks, Jack.
Hope they never try to weaponize Ebola... :/
It is sometimes an appropriate response to reality to go insane.Russia isn't fighting a war for regional domination.
... shit.
It is sometimes an appropriate response to reality to go insane.I think Washington was and still is considering a relief operation to the people trapped in the city. They may be waiting to see if the Iraqi/Kurdish forces do need our air power in the first place. It would be a pretty significant morale coup if the Iraqis, in cooperation with the Peshmerga, can score a big victory against IS without needing American airstrikes. Though I all likelihood, I expect we'll be aiding with CAS before the weekend is out.

ISIS sells captured Yazidi women. With each passing day ISIS and Boko Haram seem like to pees in a very fucked up pod.
I Bring Doom, and a bit of gloom, but mostly gloom.Yeah, read about that too.
ISIS really are a bunch of human trash.
It is sometimes an appropriate response to reality to go insane. There are also reports that ISIS wanted to forcefully impregnate the women to remove their bloodline.
Keep Rolling OnGenocidal rape has happened before. Especially during the Yugoslav Wars.
It is sometimes an appropriate response to reality to go insane.I've heard Al Quida in Iraq did similar things. I hate to think of what will happen to the children of those rapes. Hopefully there are none but lets be real there will be. I can't imagine how a family could deal with such things.
I Bring Doom, and a bit of gloom, but mostly gloom.
What makes you say that?
