Manga/Toriko

Since this is now on Manga Stream, and the series is becoming more popular, I feel that we should have a thread for this manga.

Chapter 125: Good lord is Zebra terrifying.

Just got caught up literally a minute ago.

Zebra feels like he should make this an entertaining arc, to be sure.

I am hoping that the next arc will have Terry in it. I really miss him.

Okay, while I was disappointed that we still don't get to see Zebra, Honey Prison is giving Impel Down a serious challenge for "Most horrific prison in manga". The warden......Was.....Unexpected....

Well Double Feature (And I forgot to post the first) of Chapters 127 and 128.

I honestly don't know WHY they would ever want to release somebody like Zebra. And Honey Prison really is Impel Down. Hell, the Vice Warden even kinda resembles Magellan!

Is that series any good? I noticed it, but haven't really had to time read it recently.

Oh it definitely is. Think of it as One Piece mixed with Jo Jo's Bizarre Adventure Parts 1 and 2. It's a wonderfully established world with great characters.

I'll have to check that out after I finish Rahxephon and the negima manga.

Just be warned that reading the series will make you hungry.

Okay, Chapters 129 to 132. I have to say I am really liking Zebra. He is a genuinely interesting Jerk with a Heart of Gold. The fact that he's a badass doesn't hurt.

Also the Gourmet Pyramid......Wow......Just.....Wow. And it looks like Komatsu will get a chance to prove himself on his own. (Ice Hell didn't count. Teppei helped him)

Yeah, the Gourmet Pyramid is huge. And a One Piece/Toriko crossover should be interesting. I forsee an eating contest between Luffy and Toriko.

Edit: And as some others have guessed, Zebra wants Komatsu as his reward. I wonder how that will work out.

Toriko is one of the only people who could possibly eat more than Luffy. Along with Kirby. I also see a cooking contest between Sanji and Komatsu. And i'm curious to see how Chopper and Terry will interact.

Really, Toriko is the perfect series to crossover with One Piece. The characters are at the same degree of power and alot of the themes, writing elements and world details are very similar between series.

That Gourmet Pyramid...that's big on a scale you don't see outside of Science Fiction!

I'm wondering who or what Toriko and Zebra are going to be fighting down there. It would have to be something they actually NEED Zebra for, and I don't know what that would be in a place like that.

Navigating that nightmare would be enough to warrant Zebra's help.

Well next weekend is the One Piece Crossover. And it's going to be in manga form too. I really hope this will get more people onto the Toriko fan base. I also bet this topic is going expand after the Anime airs.

Well the manga crossover just came out. It was alright, although I wish the other characters had played a bigger role. I'm hoping the animated version has the Sanji/Komatsu cooking duel I wanted.

Also, is this really the first time Zebra's been on panel with the others?

Unless you count rear flashback shots, yes.

This was more of a comdic crossover, and seemed to come from both Oda and Mitsutoshi just having a fun time with their characters. I really did think that the feast and the goodbyes were the best part, seeing both Luffy and Toriko want to see each other after fulfilling their goals. Also, I utterly loved Luffy's Full Course Menu.

Well, as of the Anime Crossover, we now have Toriko's first opening.

I LOVE THIS. It's (Appropriately) what I consider to be to Toriko what "We Are!" is to One Piece. It's a fun energetic song that perfectly embodies the series, and just gets you pumped for it. I really can't wait until we see the Toriko animations for it when the show premiers.

honestly this thread should have more replies than it has now. this manga is awesome. i have some catching up to do myself, but i have already purchased the first 4 volumes of it, to show my support :). and eagerly await the next one.

btw has anyone found a subbed version of the one piece and toriko cross over special, and the first episode of toriko? im hoping funi or viz will get the rights to simulcast it one day

Yeah. I have NO IDEA why this thread is getting little to no responses. Toriko is a fantastic series, and is my absolute favorite Shonen Jump title next to One Piece. But like I said before, I hope the Anime will give it the support it needs.

Chaoter 135: While I dislike the whole Calrorie energy thing, I am really interested in this creature that's attacking Komatsu. We know it's one of the things that are related to the creature that visited Vegetable Heaven, but it looks like we will get some history on them. And I know that the book is an ancient cookbook.

Chapter 136: Well, Toriko and Zebra have finally caught up to Komatsu! And now we are getting the arc's big fight: Toriko and Zebra vs The Salamander Sphinx! (Capture Level: 92) And it's the ingredient! (Mellow Cola) Anyone else think the Bishokokai will show up? It's been a while.

Wow really surprised how few people are on here... anyway looking forward to this battle I'm pretty sure level 92 is the highest so far

Just finished reading the series the other day! Thus far I am greatly enjoying it.

I think the highest capture level is unmeasurable that we saw in Gourmet World.

Lets not forget that the GT Robo-like creature thats not so far away. Either they can trick the creature into fighting the Sphinx or Toriko and Zebra each fight one. I'm leaning more towards the latter with Zebra fighting the Sphinx and Toriko fighting the creature.
