A critical approach to {{Gushing}}

Okay, let's get down to business. I want to make it clear that I think the Gushing About Shows You Like page is a good idea, as it keeps the gushing off the main pages.

In theory.

In actuality, it only keeps some of the gushing off. Entry pimped work pages and stubs are particularly susceptible to having gush tropes like Crowning Music Of Awesome on them, because entry pimped pages don't tend to have that many links to them as well as being written by the sole fan who might not have any qualms against gushing, and stubs are small enough that a fan might not want to remove the gush tropes.

I'll do a quick FAQ to answer a few questions that you're no doubt thinking of:

Q: But I thought we were allowed to gush, as TV Tropes is by, for and about fans!

A: No. That's just a safeguard against people complaining. Otherwise, we wouldn't have the gush page in the first place. Unless you're assuming all fans are required to gush.

Q: But gushing doesn't hurt anyone!

A: Anyone, maybe not, but it harms the prose of the Wiki to have filler words like "awesome" scattered around.

Q: You're too serious.

A: I am, aren't I? Seriously, there's nothing wrong with being serious. It gives the Wiki credibility.

Q: You're just mad because the Darth Wiki complaining page got cut.

A: I don't care about that. I'm not going to compare complaining and gushing. You'll have to admit though, even before this "don't complain" mentality came along, there was more gushing on the main pages than complaining. It's a thing fans tend to do.

Q: You're the only one who cares about this.

A: And you're adding absolutely nothing to this conversation.

So, how does one approach this problem? Good question. We could make a designated Gushing About Shows You Like page in Main that explains why gushing is to be confined to Sugar Wiki. We could explain to newbies why gushing is to be kept off the main pages, in a civil manner, of course. I just want to say something, so gushing in Main gets viewed as unwanted.

Crowning Music Of Awesome and similar subjective tropes (which most "gushing" tropes fall under) are tagged with a banner that states they shouldn't be listed on a work's main page, but in the YMMV tab along with any potentially negative subjective tropes.

If you see any in main article, feel free to create the YMMV tab for that work and move it there yourself. Explain why you do so in the edit reason, so people who are curious can learn about the process. The more this is done, the more the procedure will take hold in the troper consciousness.

OP, would you please stop just zapping gushing YMM Vs instead of moving them to the YMMV pages? It's annoying.

You're supposed move subjectives to the YMMV page, and it only takes a few seconds longer.

Also, why are you zapping stuff that just potholed instead of "listed on the works page as a trope?" Unless I'm greatly mistaken, that isn't prohibited.

You're supposed to move YMMV tropes to the YMMV page, that's what it's for.

Fight smart, not fair.

IllIllIllIll, You're perfectly correct — you don't have to move them; you can go on deleting them. And you will be banned from editing at all, for vandalism.
