Hylarn:

I still don't think Oriko is actually going to be two volumes. It's not paced for it, and I haven't been able to find a verifiable source for any of the claims

Ithink it says it on the Amazon page. But I agree, Oriko should definitely get a third volume. Hopefully it will be announced sometime this week.

[up][up] Mami wouldn't like that.

Come to think of it, why is that thing called cake? I mean, the whole place is certainly shaped like one, but that...thing...ok, what IS that thing, anyway?

Also damn, I'm really surprised that this series, very new one, managed to become the series with the third biggest thread in Manga & Anime forum EVER.

Seriously, what do you guys talk about? 0_o

Yeah, it's impressive how the thread about an one season Magical Girl show has as almost as many or more posts than the Big Three threads.

Lazy and pathetic.

Indeed. Isn't it like only twelve episodes? Well, I guess if it's that popular, it must have some real good quality to get that status.

Becareful with that kind of comment. Those are the exact kind of words that made me stay away from The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya for years.

Also, because your comment annoyed me so much I shall nitpick; Nothing is good. You can like it. Many people can like it. But there's no good or bad anything. You do not define something with a subjective quality.

I usually don't like what the masses like, but Madoka is in the top 2 on my list, with ~9 points of 10. It's a tie with Haibane Renmei. I don't say it's good, I say it's good for me.

[up][up][up] It is nevertheless an splendid example for a markedly well done (one season) anime and less of a flawed beauty than Angel Beats.

I dug this link out from the archives of /a/. It hasn't added anything else new on the table, but it does have a fairly plausible interpretation of the anime's epilogue.

What your take?

What's with that title order?

@MalagasyParrot: That was an interesting link. (Spoiled for statements that might annoy people) I'm not sure I like the 'Madokami is Crystal Dragon Jesus' bit in the middle, but that trope's always rubbed me the wrong way. There are plenty of other savior archetypes, after all, and I could argue against it, but I don't feel like doing that.

Much as I dislike how rabid the fans are, I'm inclined to agree.

I doubt it, there is a certain level of mental/spiritual segregation in the Sisters Network.

@Red Savant

The most interesting bit of that blog post is the idea that the epilogue is actually depicting Homura imminently close to reuniting with Goduka at Puella Magicahalla as her Soul Gem's power is near exhaustion. Homura's wings immediately before the credits originally started out white and angelic, but the epilogue shows that it's now blacken and engulfed by what appears to be elements of a witch. The post also hints that Goduka will only begin establishing contact with any Puella Magi when their Soul Gem is close to running out of power, as Sayaka's demise in the last timeline shows.

This would indicate that the Magica Quartet had the intent of tying up what lose strings are left and leaving less room for a canonical sequel. Of course, it's still down to the Quartet themselves to decide whether they want keep this series going, but a sequel that starts off from where the anime ends is going to be one hell of a tall order.

EDIT: Guess I might be late mentioning this theory. The wiki already lists it.

Something that still just bugs me me is the Straw Vulcan that is Kyubey. For all his talk of "effciency" the Magical Girl system seems like a very poorly designed system. You only get the energy if the girl turns into a witch and it's implied that the incubators need to eat the Grief Seed to collect it. If the latter point is the case than Kyueby collected NO energy from the main cast in timeline five. Their souls were destroyed, even Sayakas. And if eating Grief Seeds wasn't a vital part of the process, why tell the girls to hunt witches? It puts them vulnerable to death from witch attacks, which makes it impossible to collect their Grief. And no matter how powerful Krimheld Gretchen was I doubt she could be worth BILLIONS of years of future entropy and if the Grief Seeds are required they had no way of collecting it anyway.

I discovered a more efficient method: Open a cinema called Incubator Films, and show all sorts of emotional roller coasters for free. The price? Your emotional reactions will be tapped for Entropy-breaking power.

it's implied that the incubators need to eat the Grief Seed to collect

Kyuubey got the energy for Kriemhild Gretchen, so it doesn't seem that this is the case. Eating the Grief Seed likely just gets a bonus
