[up]Oh yeah. Retaliation is infamous for delaying the movie for like 10 months one month before release after wanting to convert the film to 3D. That was a big disappointment. At least for this film it's 7 months.

I feel like there are two completely different notions here: I think the delay was necessary, but November is overkill.

I think it's overkill because Disney has announced that Mulan, which will relay heavily on the Asian market, just confirmed that they will go through with their late March release date, weeks before No Time to Die was supposed to premiere. Disney also had to get advice what to do and somehow they are sticking with their initial plan. So maybe EON should simply ask wiser people, than cave to the demands of the open letter by this fansite. That guy doesn't speak for Bond fans.

Or, maybe, Disney sees caving and moving a film date as both a bad sign to send to their investors (regardless of if its the right move or not) and it's already a film they seem more than a little nervous about as it is. Moving it could sink a ship already taking on water.

And, on a civilian scale, moving a movie might be seen as a sign to be even more worried about the virus.

MOST companies, because of big budgets and lots of investors they need to please, will barrel through on their decisions before risking making a new one that might fare poorly. If they move the film and, surprise, the virus isn't a big deal in 3 months time, they made a bad move. Kind of a devil you know vs. devil you don't situation.

However, I think it's extremely arrogant to just say 'There's no reason for it. They're dumb' and write it off as they need to talk to bigger experts when we're also no experts ourselves here and we also have VERY little information about how those conversations went.

It's definitely gonna be a crowded November with Eternals in early November, Godzilla vs King Kong when kids get out for Thanksgiving Break, and both No Time to Die and Raya and the Last Dragon on Thanksgiving.

We may be heading to the first year without a billion dollar film if this keeps up.

It's like there is no way to digitally distribute films, through a world-spanning network with payment methods that cost less overhead...oh wait.

Aston Martin designs a new V6 for James Bond—and the Valhalla hypercar.

The mid-engined Valhalla is due in 2022, but Bond drives it first in No Time to Die.

Well, that's two years away, and a vaccine is expected to be developed within about 12-18 months, so late 2022 does not sound far-fetched right now.

The Valhalla still looks too much like a toy. Not a fan of the aesthetics.

Favorite is the V8 Vantage that Dalton's Bond drives.

I watched Casino Royale recently. As my second Bond film, it was actually pretty good. Daniel Craig's acting is great, and I loved his dynamic with Vesper. They were so sweet together, and I was sad to see Vesper go.

Well thank God they didn't release this film in April....

To say that would have ended badly would be an Understatement.

It depends. Female James Bond sure sounds gimmicky, but it will depend on execution, and on how it deals with Bond himself.

My prediction for Nomi is that every scene she's in will have this awkward "oil-in-water" atmosphere of being just a little bit too woke for the franchise, in a Were Still Relevant Dammit kind of way, and that her death scene — because we all know a character with the codename 007 who isn't named James Bond is gonna die — will nonetheless be a highlight for the character and for the film.

She can not be killed… but the only other option is to have her retire because she's not fit for the job or some shit, which would send an awkward Stay in the Kitchen message.

If she really does keep the codename and effectively becomes the new "Bond"… that will be a jump into the unknown for sure.

[up]The producers said that wasn’t going to happen.

She’s going to die, and I expect the reactions to be split, even if she’s portrayed as the biggest Jerkass possible to make people want her dead.

Yeah, I expect her to die or at least retire as well. There's just no way she will keep the iconic 007 title, or replace Bond.

This is why I think this was a terrible idea to start with. If you want a strong female super spy, make a new movie about that. Don't just shoe-horn it into a franchise that doesn't really give any room for that.

Optimism is a duty.

It would be one thing if you intended this movie to be the absolute final James Bond movie and were never gonna make another Bond film ever again ever, but I don't think that's the case.

Well, it is the last Daniel Craig film, which means the end of this continuity… but even then, it would just be weird if they gave the mantle to a woman at the end only to pretend she never existed in the next film.
