A good send-off for the Blond Bond?

He already is getting one. A really obscenely huge amount of money that he's been paid to go back on his principles by appearing in a franchise that he has said previously he wasn't going to return to.

That's enough, I think.

Can't wait for the next Bond.

There's also a new novel coming out apparently about the 007 prior to Bond, including how he died. That's pretty interesting, no?

The last movie was a send-off movie.

A terrible one.

But, hey, his character slept with Monica Belluci.

Spectre wasn't great, especially not the third act, but I thought it was fun enough. There are already rumors of script issues with this one, and I thought for sure after its predecessor they'd take more care to avoid those, but I guess not.

Spectre was almost So Bad, It's Good in places. I just feel it's a textbook case of contemporary movie clichés and how they just don't work if you don't put any thought into them.

Blofeld is about as famous a villain as Lex Luthor.

So it's amazing they felt the idea they needed to make him Bond's brother to make him a threat.

Oh and also behind his girlfriend's and mother figure's death

And Silva from Skyfall as well, which made no sense whatsoever.

Yeah they couldn't have made Blofeld any LESS threatening there if they TRIED to do so.

I liked it with Silva, as it seemed to be winking at the idea of him being Brosnan!Bond, if he was left in a lot worse physical and mental shape after being captured and tortured. Probably something vaguely homophobic in the idea of evil James Bond being a Sissy Villain, but it kind of worked for me/reminded me of Glokta in The First Law, who was formerly this dashing golden boy fencer/military hero, but after torture, is rather Frollo-esque.

I mean the idea that Silva was working for Blofeld/SPECTRE, which made no sense.

Well, he's the kind of bad guy who SPECTRE would hire.

It just came off as a dumb Retcon; a lazy way to beef up Blofeld's villain creditentials and provide a tie-in with Skyfall even though there was zero evidence in that movie that Silva was working for anyone other than himself.

Yeah I honestly couldn't buy Silva working for anyone. Like, he'd almost certainly randomly get bored one day and just shoot Blofeld, then claim he'd planned it 4 years ago or something.

Boyle is about as good as a director as they could get though, so I'm relieved about that. Mind you, Sam Mendez had credibility too and that meant nothing with Spectre. I loved it when it first came out but I'm increasingly soured on it.

Okay, so can I get a fact-check for something about TWINE? I've heard it claimed more than once, including on the Bond Wikia, that the movie was originally going to have a sad ending where Bond turns out to have shot Elektra nonfatally, and the last scene shows she's now in the insane asylum and Bond visits her sometimes. This was supposedly changed for being "too downbeat" (so says the Wikia anyway), but I've never seen a primary source. So, anybody got one? If it is true... they really thought audiences would like "downbeat" less that "vomit-inducing double entendres about Christmas?"

[up]I got nothing-she clearly dies in the novelization and what little of the script revisions that have been seen. It might have just been scuttlebutt from the writing room, where all sorts of craziness is tossed at the wall to see what sticks. You have a link?

Mind you, a lot of the audience didn't buy Bond having any feeling toward her because she's a typical mad Bondian terrorist.

We have a release date and director for Bond 25. And apparently Waltz will not be returning? I thought he was in if Craig was.

Also, the studio is now Universal meaning Sony has one less property they can rely on.

Waltz was very vague as to why he's not coming back, saying only "it's tradition." Tradition to recast Blofeld every time, maybe?

Because making Blofeld into Bond's brother is about as unnecessary as....

With this announcement of this upcoming Bond film and how Craig wants it to be his last, I'm more concerned about Madeline. Personally, I don't mind one more movie for Craig but I'm more concerned about how Spectre ended. Does Bond really have suffer that much?

Yeah, a lot of Bond movies ended with him getting the girl, only for them to vanish without trace or mention by the next one.

I've wondered what happens to Bond's various exes many times. In Spectre Lucia goes into witness protection; is that the fate of most of them, I wonder?
