What even the kids??
except the kids
Heart of Stoneoh thank god the implications were really wrong for a sec
I mean look at all of Lloyd's scenes
Lloyd Irving does not know how babies are made.
Man, Veigue/Claire is really Squick for a lot of reasons, including that they're adoptive siblings. The Westermarck Effect should really be applying for them.
Stahn/Rutee really isn't well done, especially considering Stahn/Philia and Stahn/Mary of all things had a lot more teasing in the original game. Rutee had a one-sided thing for Stahn but it was definitely one-sided, seeing as she constantly taunted and bullied Stahn (plus, he was dating Irene Rembrandt and Stahn is really pissed at Rutee when she makes a callous comment after she dies). I think the original ending was more of a "choose your own romance" kind of thing with Stahn as a harem hero... Then the sequel went with the least popular option with the Scrappy of the game. Uhh... Cool, I guess?
I really would have liked the idea of a Fire Emblem-style Tales of Destiny 2, with Kyle having different traits (higher strength, more dexterity, greater magic, for instance) depending on which Love Interest you picked for Stahn. I think that could have been a really cool idea. Technology probably wasn't advanced enough for that back then, though.
Also, I will mention the manga of Destiny 2 has Kyle and Reala sharing an Almost Kiss at the end, really cementing their official status if nothing else has for you already (including the literal Anguished Declaration of Love).

Oissu! Finally got Vesperia on PS 4. My ancient lappy wasn't gonna run it anytime soon but since I snagged a PS 4 at last, I can get right into it.
...and berseria too
"Take it easy with the watersports, old man"
EDIT 2: Okay so for real I started a new game, got all the way to Halure and found I actually missed the first Duke scene in Deidon Hold because I misinterpreted a guide that said he'd be there til a certain point later. Thanks, guide. So I started a whole new game and got the scene. Yeah I'm just that anal about things. I'm also using a really handy dandy sidequest guide that covers every sidequest, PS 3 included.
I'm up to the bit where you go back to Halure with Rita in the party and wow the DLC costumes she got are weird. Walter Delques as her 2nd cameo costume? A rather scantly clad witch outfit? She's fifteen.

Don't like double posting but I got the Gattuso secret mission! Apparently he's only hard because of poison spam and his sodding roar and how unintuitive the secret mission was. Apparently after stunning him with the plants you gotta knock him down but from what I could tell the most solidly reliable method was Azure Edge into Raging Blast. I could be wrong on that tho. It helped I had the level up DLC because I was more interested in the story so I had Yuri's weird hyper armor that triggers if you're way higher levelled than the current enemies.
also i think i hate rita because fucking hell you abusive bitch
Well, ufotable is in some shit.
https://www.reddit.com/r/tales/comments/b6g634/ufotable_suspected_of_tax_fraud/.
A rose by any other name would smell as sweet Unless I grew it. In that case, throw it in the trash.Oh fuck. Well that's a slap in the face. Not that it hurts for me, their penchant for Adaptation Decay holds that back but hey.
Maybe IG will come back. Maybe the Tales eries'll be animated by, and i can hope, David Productions?
Anyway, Vesperia. I'm up to where you first go into that Ragou guy's mansion and okay wow he sounds like the biggest damn moustache twirler. Although I also saw the first optional Patty scene and SHE CUTE.
Speaking of which, how’s the Vesperia Switch port? I understand that there were some issues, although I think they were patched?
Oh God! Natural light! It used to crash randomly but it's been patched.
Fwiw I've not had the PS 4 version crash on me.
WIT is probably most likely in the future, seeing as they already did Tales of the Rays. Assuming Bamco will do something intelligent for once and actually kick Ufotable off their projects.
I for one would welcome the change. Rays has some really nice openings and their characters manage to actually look different from one another vs Ufotable's blatant Only Six Faces.

Oissu!Yeah, ufotable or however you spell their bloody name has that going for them. Only Six Faces can sometimes be a problem among Tales designs as a whole but their animation style isn't helping.
also fucking hell i haven't gotten to his backstory and already i feel really bad for karol
One of the things I like about Karol is that his habitual Guild-swapping means he actually has a really broad range of skills
Heart of StoneAnd I can't hate the way he seems snooty about it sometimes because goddammit he's still basically a kid trying to impress the bigger cooler kids with the skills and knowledge he legit got and what does he get? Rita abusing him.
Karol is just annoying enough that I don't feel too sorry for him when bad things happen, but he is a much stronger character than given credit.
Karol can be annoying, but that doesn’t mean the way Rita treats him is OK.
I agree.
But Rita is one of those characters. She grows too, but the tendency to smack people (namely Karol and Raven) for getting on her nerves never goes away unfortunately, because it's a dumb attempt at humour.
One Strip! One Strip!I mean Raven I'm eh on but fucking Rita you bully quit fucking hitting Karol you bitch.
And honestly I can't hate Karol because, well its very likely we were once like him.
At least Patty's fun.
I don't like Karol and I don't think I ever will. He's a kid but at the same time his cowardice puts people in danger and he was right to get kicked out of guilds constantly. I dunno. Rita is a little too aggressive with him but I don't feel sorry for him at any point.
Oissu!That's fair.
Yeah, I was wondering about it, but Raven does kinda bring it on himself (though I believe a vast majority of that is an act).
But yeah, Karol doesn't deserve the shit he gets from her, and the fact she gets away with it is worse.
Sometimes it feels like some female characters are either allowed to get away with being jerks too casually or not allowed to do anything. It's not as much as an issue in Tales however.
Well Rita is pretty unsocial and aggressive towards everyone until Estelle saves her earlier on, and then she's mostly only nice to Estelle (even going as far as preparing to destroy a Blastia to help her, which is a huge character moment for someone who had earlier considered Blastia easier to be around than people).

One Strip! One Strip!
IMO, in the 'night before battle' scenes, if the two people talking are a couple, there is a not insignificant chance that some offscreen carnality follows.
