So how 'bout that Tales of Innocence, eh? I'm finishing it up with the patch and I honestly think it has the best 3d battle system I've played with the series, ie, all but vesperia and the radiant mythologies.

Every single character is fun to play as. Yes, even the healer chicks, because one is a twin gunner and the other fight's in a stabbitystab sort of way with knives. If you have a DS+flashcart, you owe it to yourself to check this one out.

...too bad the dungeons are garbage sad

Fav story overall: Abyss.

Fav character as a character: Jade, no contest. Everyone else can just go home.

Fav character to control in combat: Emil. Juggles like a street busquer troop. His aerial dominance is second only to Judith's, and Emil's much easier to control.

Share it so that people can get into this conversation, 'cause we're not the only ones who think like this.

I was a fan of big Lloyd as far as who to control. Really, with the right Ex Gem abilities (specifically, the ones that make him move faster, not stagger when hit during a backstep, and enable him to use some of his techs from midair) a sufficiently skilled player can duel most bosses and win. Tempest, in particular, was amazingly useful in a battle system lacking free run capability.

^^^Innocence is really fun from what I've played of it. I like Ricardo... But yeah, haven't gotten too far because I don't have a flashcart so I've been playing it on a shitty emulator that lags a lot.

^God, I loved abusing Tempest in that game when I was playing as Lloyd. It certainly was useful back in those Free Run-less days :P

Tempest is just an awesome skill overall. In Innocence, which has freerunning, it's still sweet because Tempest keeps the enemies in the air, which is awesome in an aerial battle system like what To I has.

Ricardo is indeed very awesome, especially later on when he gets skills that essentially lets him shoots Glaives and Negative Gates (yes, the spells) at enemies with his gun. I personally find him to be the best Mage character since his fighting style keeps him away from enemies anyways.

Oh, and btw, in Tales of Vesperia PS 3, Raven can get a Ricardo costume, which is funny because in a skit I saw, Raven+ricardo costume=peace and quiet. wink

Hmm...was I the one who started the last Tales thread? I forgot...

Anyway, I'm just here to declare my love for Ange Serena of Innocence fame. So happy to see that she's going to be playable for Radiant Mythology 3! A while back, me and a few other members of another forum got into an argument over who liked Ange more, until someone threw out the suggestion of soloing the game's penultimate boss on Mania mode with her. A few hours later and, well, I showed them.

Also finally getting a PSP next week (I know, I'm way behind the times), so that means I can finally play the first Radiant Mythology in English! (And maybe import VS and RM 2/3 in the future.)

Ange is an amazing healer. So amazing that the fight against her and that other guy is a bitch. That's where I've left off on my 1st playthrough hard mode

Even if I'm never going to be able to play it (in English, at least), I can't help but get excited over Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 3. Ange and Ricardo as playable characters? Sheena with Summon: Verius as her Mystic Arte? Kanonno gets a character design that I actually like? Asch having tea time with Yuri and Colette? DO WANT!

I'm personally excited that RAVEN IS IN IT MOTHER OF GOD

I was so disappointed when he wasn't in the second RM OR Tales of VS...

Sigh...

I've only played Phantaia and Symphonia (cheap) and I'm replaying both since I've never finished Phantasia. I want to play the others desperately (except the Tales sequel, My friend test-ran that for me, and even with the occasional amusing bad guy, it's not that great). My favorite characters would be Sheena and Clarth and I like playing as Sheena, Presea, and Regal. I find these games to be enjoyable and I shall search for a functional PSX emulator and engage in further Tales-capades.

In the mean while I shall continue to bemoan Namco's Tales embargo

Radiant Mythology is probably my favorite non-mothership Tales spinoff. My favorite styles were the fighter (Senel's style) and the archer if I remember correctly. I also like the interaction between all the characters too. I think the only thing I hated about it were the fights with other Tales characters, since they tended to be cheap.

I'm really disappointed that the sequel to RM and Tales of VS wasn't ported over, but since I've been thinking about trying out this importing thing and get Xillia, I might import RM 2 and VS. That depends on how good they are, whether or not there are fan translations around (biggest factor for me), and whether or not the PSP is region-free...  *

Don't worry, the PSP is region free. I've imported Tales of VS. along with a few other Japanese PSP games. As far as I know there isn't really a translation patch or anything for Tales of VS. out, but I haven't checked for RM 2. I haven't really needed a translation for VS. at all though, it's pretty easy to figure things out. Shame I can't understand the cutscenes though...

Oh, if you ever find a way to import Japanese PS 2 games, the Tales of Destiny remake and Tales of Rebirth both have translation scripts you can follow out there.

And if nothing else you can import the European version of Tales of Eternia, another awesome one. This is also on the psx (as Tales of Destiny II) for those of you who can track it down or use other methods.

^ It took me a while to realize why that was so significant. Awesome!

Finally got Radiant Mythology, and have been playing it for about a week now. Does the male main character's #3 voice remind anyone else of Yuri Lowell?

Also, Reid is amazing. I knew there was a reason why he was my favorite Tales hero.

So uh, how 'bout Knight of Ratatosk?

...I thought it was pretty fun, though I defy Namco to explain why Sheena can't summon in-battle in that game, despite being able to do it at a moment's notice in cutscenes.

I have a message from another time...

TBH I hardly cared about Sheena not summoning much in Ko R because its not like it happened often in To S, and I like her new hi-ougi.

Ko R is indeed a weak part of the series, but it's good for a side game. The battles are good, and the monster thing was kinda interesting, I just wish it let you level the To S crew at least.

But yeah I'm glad that the Tales of Hearts translation seems to be moving fine. Between that, Tales of Graces and Soul Hackers, I have quite a few translations to look forward to.

Huh...the URL parses out to "A Tale of Two Richards."

...I didn't see much of Tales Of Graces, but I know there is a character named Richard in it...

On the other hand, maybe Namco Bandai is just publishing an Enslaved-esque game about Richard the Lionhearted or something.

Oh, I am praying so hard for this. If Namco doesn't localize it after that, they're really just fucking with us.

By the way, that article doesn't seem to mention it but if you invert the colors of that image it's much easier to make out the Tales of Graces logo.
