Oh, I see, that totally went over my head.
Optimism is a duty.Paradox has been teasing a new Crusader Kings II start date, and amateur sleuthing quickly determined that it's between the 867 and 1066 starts, and then further narrowed it down to between 906 and 964. A new screenshot of Brittany further narrowed it down to between 933 to 939, then based on the naming of k_france, between 936 and 939 (a non-Karling held the title from 923 to 936, when Louis IV Karling, and a non-Karling holding the title would cause it to change from West Francia to France, so unless they changed the naming system for the Carolingian kingdoms just to accommodate a single year, Robert probably isn't king) and the speculated start date is 937.
Stellaris will be playable for free this weekend.

Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen.Eh, it didn't work for me. Clear sign that I should get new machine, but it won't happen that soon. I benched EU4 and CK2 for performance reasons as well. They're playable, but not very smooth and I have large Steam backlog anyway. And of course my immortal classic - EU3.
I feel you, I love Stellaris but it's just a slog 30-40 years in.
EU 4 is better on my PC but just barely.
"Sandwiches are probably easier to fix than the actual problems" -HylarnEven my PC has to wrestle with Stellaris and CK 3 late game, and it's designed with a CPU, memory and heat sinks that can allegedly take games like that.
Keep in mind that it's not just the computer that matters. It's the programming too. If the engine is written sloppily and there's too many variables for it to handle, it doesn't matter how good your computer is. The game's still gonna chug.
This is also one of the reasons that multi-core processors don't matter for gaming. Most games, even the most intense, are generally single-thread programs. Extra cores are useful if you run multiple games at the same time for some reason, but otherwise they don't make a lick of difference.
Think this fits in here:

No idea whether it's an RPG orrrrr some sort of strategy game using werewolf lore.
Has anyone tried playing Stellaris on the PS 4? I'm just wondering how the port is.
I'm struggling to picture someone playing Stellaris without a keyboard or mouse
New theme music also a boxIn EU 4, how are the Turks of the same culture groups as bedouin and Egyptian? I thought the Turks migrated from central Asia? Shouldn't they be a different culture group, at least from Egyptian?
Optimism is a duty.Welp, tried to get back into After The End twice yesterday, but I got fucked over twice. The first time my fairly young lord died of an infected wound, and then his successor died childless like a year afterwards because he contracted dysentery. Then the second time, my twenty-something lord died of severe stress only a little ways into the game.
And I can't get the Workshop version of the Game of Thrones mod to work properly either.
There's a mantra that's been repeated many times in the Paradox community for years:
Language =/= culture
The Ottomans have culturally more in common with their Middle Eastern neighbours than they have with their "cousins" over in the Turkestan.
I've seen some mods attempt to split cultures based on language and it usually turns the map into a nonsensical mess.

I've argued for Venn-diagramming culture groups myself, but the code won't allow it at present.
Welp, been getting back into CK 2 lately. Have played a few games in Game of Thrones (made some good progress as Dany by taking over Slaver's Bay only to die after being stung by a manticore) and then tried an After The End game today that unfortunately didn't work out when we got hit with a Prepared Invasion.
Well, the game is effectively doing that, keeping track of which cultures a province had before you changed it, and allowing you to change it back. I suppose they could do something interesting like that, maybe like a cultural revolt, or an event that makes another culture dominant in that province, and then switches the province to that other culture?
Optimism is a duty.I meant cultures that belong to more than one group. For example, have Breton be both Celtic and French.
Wouldn't that just mean they don't really fit in with either group?
They've added a court limit system - which is about damn time.
They also tweaked and bugfixed most of the Great Works effects.
And Stellaris got it's new story pack introduced. From what I can see, the Artifact and Relic system is going to fully moddable.
So....Necron Tomb World Mods when?
I hold the secrets of the machine.New CKII start date hard confirmed - August 7, 936, centered on Otto the Great.
It'll be another free expansion, entitled Iron Century.
Otto the Great? Where’s he from?
There IS a real city called Bielefeld, so not sure what you mean.
Also, adding somewhat fictional/mythical elements is not without precedent, and is hard to avoid when the historical record is often so incomplete.
