I wonder if there's any weapon mods out there I can grab?
Was Jack Mackerel. | i rite gudI'm sure there are a dozen. At least.
Home of CBR Rumbles-in-Exile: rumbles.fr.yuku.comI'd go with Shifter. It's still normal Deus Ex, but with new variant weapons, gameplay refinements, tweaks, bugfixes, and overall better-ness.
Re: Aquinas
Thomas Aquinas is famous for a few different philisophical and theological theories. The one that probably being referenced here is his City on a Hill analogy, which refers to a model soceity which can always be seen and never hidden and emulated by all man-kind.
So the illuminati seemed to beleive that they were creating this city on a hill, and the router was one of the keys to that process. Or at least that's my best guess.
Scratch the surface of a cynic and you'll find a dissapointed idealist.MJ 12 was making the city on the hill, I think. Page broke off from the Illuminati because he felt they were too conservative/cautious with their approach, formed MJ 12, and began his own plans.
Also, the Shifter mod not only has a findable 10mm Magnum pistol, but there's also a (limited) amount of 10mm explosive pistol rounds added to the mod courtesy of the Shifter mod. So finally, pistoleers will have more options against bots and Commandoes.

I do Pacifist Runs, on Realistic, and never die.
Jonah FalconVids or it didn't happen.
Wouldn't a Pacifist run be almost as easy on any difficulty setting? After all, 90% of it is avoiding combat.
Home of CBR Rumbles-in-Exile: rumbles.fr.yuku.comAnd leaning around corners to smack people in the head with a crossbow.
Was Jack Mackerel. | i rite gudI am fond of the tazer, myself. Stuns them and doesn't give them a chance to run away before the knockout kicks in.
There's no such thing as a true pacifist run. Not to spoil anything for those who haven't played it (are there really still people who haven't played Deus Ex?) but one character I believe out of a choice of two MUST BE KILLED (spoilers: Gunther Herrman or Anna Navarre). I think there's another one but I'm not sure. Anyway, you have to at least make one kill.
I think it's possible to bypass those two quietly if you know what you're doing.

Yeah, it might not be intentional, but it is possible to avoid killing them. Definitely a Good Bad Bug.

I had no idea. That is definitely cool.
The bug Charlie refers to only works on the Steam version, though.
Was Jack Mackerel. | i rite gudThat can't be possible, I've heard reports of it being doable from way back when.
Home of CBR Rumbles-in-Exile: rumbles.fr.yuku.comI ran a Technical Pacifist Run.
Basically it was a Pacifist Run based on use of non-lethal weapons, as long as they were basic grunts — against the rest I usually used the BFS. If you do it fast enough, you can cut a MIB and run away from the explosion, and I can't go non-lethal on a Commando. Also, the turrets don't count.
And I have my theory on the City on the Hill now, but it's more based on Gospel than on Aquinas. The relevant part of Gospel is Jesus' parable that a city on a hill can't be hidden, as a part of a teaching that you are supposed to be overt with your righteousness. I understand it that Page saw the Illuminati as "the righteous", and their World Domination plan as "the city on a hill" — which meant that their covert approach equated to an attempt in "hiding" "the city on a hill". So, the proper thing to do was to become an overt Evil Overlord.
"Atheism is the religion whose followers are easiest to troll"
Good one, there. That is probably what the writers had in mind.
Home of CBR Rumbles-in-Exile: rumbles.fr.yuku.comI'm aware of that. I do kill Anna (so I can keep Juan alive), Gunther and Bob Page, but everyone else is spared my vengeance. :)
Jonah FalconMJ12 grunts get no mercy from me, considering they're not Punch-Clock Villains in the slightest.
I regret wasting my tranq darts on MJ 12 personnel.
Was Jack Mackerel. | i rite gudSo Deus Ex is pretty cool.
Anyone ever tried doing an ironman playthrough in this game? (For those unfamiliar with the term, ironman means playing as far as you can get without ever reloading a previous save, and if you die, you start over from the beginning) On Realistic, I managed to get all the way to Lebedev's airfield despite a few close calls, but screwed up when I tried to take out a patrol bot with a LAM.
I wish the Dragon's Tooth sword had a different sound-set, though. >_<
Also, that whole part where you're in the French house and that girl helps you investigate was amazing and immersive. Loved that part. Of course it broke because I got gibbed in a door, but before that glitch I was loving it.
