So, you're rejoicing?

It still looks interesting, though, I like the designs too.

Hope it's in the vein of classic Nineties stuff like House Of Mouse Sylvester And Tweety Mysteries and Pinky And The Brain. That shit was so good it showed up on I Love The Nineties.

Bugs's design bugs me, but we've been through that argument so I'm going to drop it for now. What really scares me is this:

"The Tasmanian Devil, Speedy Gonzales, Marvin the Martian and other classic characters sing original songs in two-minute music videos called Merrie Melodies and the Road Runner and Coyote are featured in 2-1/2 minute CG shorts"

The Tasmanian Devil. Singing. Do I need to say any more?

As for the CGI—for me, all that means is that it's only a matter of time before Bugs and the gang get the Alvin and the Chipmunks/Underdog/Smurfs/Yogi Bear treatment. And to be frank that scares the shit out of me. (Also, if people are complaining that the Road Runner shorts have become parodies of themselves, then Chuck Jones is up in Heaven jumping for joy, because the damn things were supposed to be parodies to begin with.)

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.

The Tasmanian Devil. Singing. Do I need to say any more?

Sounds hilarious.

Seriously though, it looks like they're falling back on a Disney approach here. Sort of like Mickey Mouse Works, with the shorter segments that are cut to the chase action and/or parodic music numbers, and longer cartoons with the characters in various plots, and the "love interest" and "in the suburbs" bits are really reminiscent of Disney cartoons.

Not a problem, since I'm confident they can put their own spin on it, but still, if we get "Daffy's Dynamite" I'm going to be annoyed.

Maybe they can fit some Duck Dodgers shorts in there, too.

Saw the commercial. Is that still Billy West doing Daffy's voice?

Okay, Road Runner and Will E Coyote should not be CG. The actual slapstick was good, but seeing it in CG was fucked up.

They do, but I still liked the old way where it was a flat color.

Is it just me, or have they just decided not to speed up Daffy's voice at all. I noticed that they've been doing it less and less, but it sounds like they've finally opted to stop doing it altogether.

Sounds a bit odd, but I suppose that's mostly because I'm not used to it.

I just like how they say that they're putting Daffy in the suburbs so he can cause more damage with his insanity. That shows that they do at least know the (well, at least one of them) characterization.

"Oh, and if one of the promos is any indication, they're also going to air the old Looney Tunes shorts alongside this brand new show. "

When was this?

Question. Why spend money making new shorts when you can just reair the old shorts? They'd be more entertaining, and most of our current crop of kids hasn't seen most of them.

The 2d segments look good (Bugs looks barely changed at all) but the CG Road Runner shorts...

NO.

^^^^ Making new versions of old things is fun, but it works best when you've got completely new ideas to put alongside it. Innovation all around.

My first reaction to seeing the new character designs was "Oh Wow, they look like little kids! Are they going to be making this a Looney Tunes prequel of sorts? Sort of like a Prequel to Tiny Toons!". But no, they aren't. It's a sitcom of sorts.

So anyway here's my WMG for the series:

The series will be an All Grown Up version of Baby Looney Tunes
It's better if you think of the series like this. Instead of explosive debates over Duck Season and Rabbit Season, these new "adult" Looney Tunes will be facing difficult hardships about being talking animals in a modern world. They'll be learning how to pay mortgage, getting jobs and keeping loan sharks at bay.

I think the person in question, Jessica Borutski, is pure Your Mileage May Vary. I personally don't care for her art style (particularly after looking at her Oswald, shudders) but I guess there are some who actually enjoy seeing this new design, for some reason.
