No 40K thread yet? I'm surprised. Nay, shocked, shocked I say to discover there's gambling going on in this establishment...

I'm eagerly anticipating the imminent 5th Edition release, personally, but I was interested to know if anyone here plays and has a differing opinion on it. There are certainly plenty of people out there who seem to think that 40K 4th edition "only just" came out and that a new edition isn't needed. Anyone?

Warhammer Fantasy (including Age of Sigmar and WFRP) has its own thread here.

Crowder would definitely fit in well with the Imperium of Man (that's not a compliment)

Look up Steven Crowder some time. Or don't if you don't want to expose yourself to garbage.

His more recent career has been peddling transphobia, climate denial, and baby onesies reading "Socialism is for F*gs".

The second verse has been the same as the first, but a little bit louder and a little bit worse, is what I'm saying.

(In context, though, I brought him up because he's the idiot in the "Change My Mind" meme)

He's a right-wing reactionary and white ethnostater, basically. Given that 40k's Imperium is deliberately the worst of human individuals and institutions lumped together, taken Up To Eleven and Recycled IN SPACE!, it's hardly surprising that modern dirtbags would feel at home there, and I don't really see the value in saying "dirtbag X would feel at home in 40k", because you could say the same of essentially every single one of them.

Far more importantly, I am super conflicted over choosing a Sisters of Battle Order paint scheme for my plastic box set. I've done Order of Our Martyred Lady, the classic poster girls, for my existing metals, but I'm really leaning away from doing them again for a variety of reasons - gotten sick of their scheme (it is the most prevalent scheme by a long shot), kinda want flexibility when it comes to Order Tactics but also can't decide on a homebrew scheme I like. The homebrew schemes are basically all black armour but with dark blue, dark green or strong yellow robes, but none of them quite fit and I'm getting more and more drawn to the Ebon Chalice scheme as well - their scheme and fluff is cool and I began a short story about a squad of Ebon Chalice Celestians not that long ago, so... dunno, because that means locking in into their Order tactics.

[up]I'm having a similar issue. I am wanting to build an Imperial Cult army with Black Templars, Militarum with lots of priests and Sororitas and I can't decide on the Sororitas Order. My metal models are an Argent Shroud (silver armour) derived homebrew and I was wanting to do one of the canon orders for the new models. I am currently looking at the Valorous Heart as I like their Conviction but their colours are a bit too close to the Templars to make them stand out. I could go with one of the Orders Minoris, the Wounded Heart are a spin of of the Valorous Heart and I like their deep red scheme. The Golden Light are also interesting with nice gold armour and the implication that they are Sororitas versions of the Legion of the Damned.

Are you basing it around a particular campaign, a theme, or just want a little Imperium soup? Is co-ordinating colour schemes an issue?

I mean, Ebon Chalice (which I'm gradually shifting towards more and more) are basically the same colour scheme as the Templars, maybe with slightly more white since they're guaranteed to be wearing robes. And the Our Martyred Lady Order also served during the Third War for Armageddon, so that's a thematic link.

My theme is defending a Graveyard world against a Word Bearer/Daemon invasion (My planned Armageddon 3 army is Tycho Death Company & Armageddon Ork Hunters). Colour scheme coordination isn't too much of an issue but I like too have at least one colour across the army. I was originally going to use white but now am leaning towards red (The Templars use red trims for the Veterans and I could easily change the fatigues on the homebrew Guard from bone white to blood red without much issue) so the Wounded Heart would be the obvious choice but I could change my mind totally and paint them as the Golden Light and have them fight alongside my Grey Knights on a planet being transformed into a Daemon World by the Thousand Sons.

I know, right? What's the crux of the issue for you guys that really hold you back from committing? For me it's a combination of Order specific rules, the colour scheme itself as well as Order fluff - mostly the former tbh, since I was seriously considering using a homebrew so I could swap between.

[up]The rules don't bother my as my ultimate (totally impossible even if I win the lottery) hobby goal is a canon and homebrew army for each sub-faction from each Codex. Lore is an issue as I like to tie each of my armies in with one or more of my others so I have to think about how to fit them in with various campaigns (again both canon and homebrew), and as I said before I like to have one colour across each army that is fighting together. It does help that I like some of the more minor sub-factions with less lore to their name, making them easier to fit in.

[up][up] Mainly trying to decide which rules I want to commit to. Also, I've been in a serious painting slump for the last several months and just don't have any real desire to pick up a brush right now...which is sad because I have a serious backlog of partially completed kits and at least a dozen kits that I've done nothing with aside from look at the sprues.

If you did... well maybe we can use you to see if its possible to give a C'tan indigestion.

Gonna hit them with the Leadbelcher in the rattlecan when the weather improves.

And yes I made the rookie error of putting the torsos on before painting the legs. Now the hip gaskets are going to be fun.

I went ahead and made a Traitor Primarchs Sandbox to work on ahead of splitting the Imperial Founders page. It is currently just a copy-paste of the current Traitor Primarch section but I will be trying to work on it to make it more approprite when I get time.

I can't decide on how to model my WW 1 British-themed IG. I've had them in tunics before, but the lore I wrote for them is that they come from a planet of chlorine, so I also was contemplating greatcoats, but at the same time I was concerned it would look to DKOK-ish. Thoughts?
