No 40K thread yet? I'm surprised. Nay, shocked, shocked I say to discover there's gambling going on in this establishment...
I'm eagerly anticipating the imminent 5th Edition release, personally, but I was interested to know if anyone here plays and has a differing opinion on it. There are certainly plenty of people out there who seem to think that 40K 4th edition "only just" came out and that a new edition isn't needed. Anyone?
Warhammer Fantasy (including Age of Sigmar and WFRP) has its own thread here.

Question: The newly-launched God-Eating page mentions Cegorach and Isha escaping Slaanesh's feeding frienzy. I'm not very knowledgeable about Eldar mythology, but didn't Khaine also escape being devoured, although he died and was shattered or something?
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."Yeah, I think Khaine was "only" shattered by Khorne. The Avatars of Khaine wouldn't exist if Khaine had been devoured like most of the pantheon.

Disgusted, but not surprisedThanks.
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."Shattered by Slaanesh, not Khorne (random fact: some background materials mentions that due to his consumption of Aeldari souls and gods Slaanesh was briefly more powerful than Khorne at the time).
What happened was that he was defeated by Slaanesh, but Khorne tried to kill-steal on the grounds that as a fellow embodiment of war and bloodshed, Khorne had dibs. During the battle between Khorne and Slaanesh over Khaine, Khaine fell into the Materium and shattered.
So in a way, Khaine's survival is thanks to Khorne.

Disgusted, but not surprisedAh yes I was forgetting that bit, but still I always interpenetrated that as Khaine getting caught in the crossfire, not being shattered by Khorne.
I didn't know about Khorne's interference in that. #knowledgeget
I think it is from a couple of editions ago and quickly looking in the most recent Codex: Craftworlds has the following couple of lines which could mean that Khorne's involvement is no longer canon unfortunately (it also isn't mentioned in the most recent Codex: Chaos Daemons either).
EDIT: in other news: The Lord-Discordant is available for pre-order.

I wonder if it was done to either make Slaanesh more threatening or to give Khaine an actual defeat in battle as opposed to being a mere casualty caught between Khorne and Slaanesh.
It's not like the Avatars of Khaine haven't already suffered enough jobbing in the fluff.

Disgusted, but not surprisedSome day they're going to make a proper movie about Warhammer 40,000 and I can't wait to see how they visualise the mythos
New theme music also a boxIt would be a... challenge, given how many different aesthetics are at play, even if you just restrict things to the Imperial side. (Compare a bunch of Cog-Boy skitarii to the Ultrasmufs to the Death Korp of Krieg to a squad of Catchatan to the Sisters of Battle).
I've said before that a Ciaphas Cain movie would work really well. There's an inbuilt narrator in the form of Amberley Vail's footnotes and his adventures would translate to the big screen pretty easily.
If I remember correctly, Khorne's involvement was added after the fact (at around the same time or later than the Isha/Nurgle story I think) so it is more moving it back to how it was originally.
Weird to think Nurgle has Isha as a prisoner, surprised someone like the Laughing God has never tried to rescue her
New theme music also a boxThere was a group of Farseers who tried to rescue her when their craftworld became infected by an incurable disease. Their souls were transformed into trees that grow Nurglings.
To be frank, Isha is probably safer with Grandfather Nurgle than running around on her own or with the Laughing God, she is a pacifist if I remember correctly (like many deities of healing and fertility).

Double Post for next weeks pre-orders: More Chaos Characters
This guy has one role, and one role only – slaying enemy leaders. Once he’s within their ranks, there’s little that can stop this gore-soaked champion from finding (and slaying) his prey, making him great for close-combat focused Legions like the World Eaters and Emperor’s Children.
Next up, we’ve got the Dark Apostle!◊ A lynchpin of Chaos armies, the Dark Apostle can use Prayers to the Dark Gods to enhance nearby units – or himself – with powerful abilities. The new Dark Apostle comes with two Dark Disciples, who make his Prayer rolls easier to perform, as well as adding a new aesthetic to Heretic Astartes forces that evokes the nature of Chaos worship.
Lastly, you’ll be able to get your hands on the magnificent Chaos Lord model from Warhammer Quest: Blackstone Fortress◊ as a stand-alone miniature – perfect if you’ve already painted one as Obsidius Mallex and you’re looking to add a Chaos Lord of your own devising to your armies.
You’ll be able to pre-order all these new models next week, while the new Codex: Chaos Space Marines, Havocs and Chaos Space Marines Terminators are on shelves right now.
That Master of Executions and the Apostle look sweet.
Damn it, and I had been wanting to save up for a holiday as well
Cegorach is too busy guarding the Black Library and trolling the Drukhari.

Disgusted, but not surprisedI think it's entirely possible someone made a deal with Nurgle in exchange for her life,it could be Isha herself saw what was coming and realised she was safer in a cage as Nurgle's prisoner then she was getting nommed by Slaanash
New theme music also a boxIf I was stuck between choosing Slaanesh or Nurgle...I'd probably go with Nurgle too.
Disgusted, but not surprisedEh, I've always thought of Cegorach as an equal opportunity troll. While he might have favoured victims anyone and everyone are potential targets. Like I'm fairly certain he's got "Poke the Outsider" as a recurring item on his to-do list.

It's just that the Drukhari are the closest available targets. They spend a lot more time in the Webway, after all.
Disgusted, but not surprisedIsn't Nurgle an Abhorrent Admirer of Isha though?
Think that might be fanon.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.I made a reformat of the Assassins section of the Other Factions page, including using the pics of the new models.
This week's Forge World pre-orders: White Scars Contemptor Dreadnought & Terminator Praetor
