I am assuming that this little interlude with Statler and Waldorf is both the characters commenting on the oddity of what they just seen and a meta commentary on the (expected) reactions from the readers of the comic.

Given that we know one of the head writers is One of Us and has even posted in this thread occasionally, I wonder if the "I wonder if they're actually improvising this behind-the-scenes" line is a direct reference to me, specifically, since I've made that exact guess twice now.
Just so long as someone eventually blows up the theater, I wont mind.

At the risk of ruining it, the most recent strip isn't just expected reactions from the audience. At least some of them are based on actual reactions from the site's forum, and a couple other places too.

Oh, lord. That hadn't occurred to me until you pointed it out. Given how long it'll take them to get to that scene in Ep. VIII, it'll be one of the longest cases of foreshadowing in webcomics.
