I'm wondering if maybe Paz can percieve Kat's undergoing ethereal transformation without really understanding it (in The Torn Sea she saw first hand Kat's new found powers and even caught of glimpse of her eldritch form).
Things did went nuts in that chapter due to Zimmy, but the rain had already subdued her at that point in the chapter.
Kat and the robots are the one that's making that ethereal manifestation.
