• Alternative Character Interpretation:
  • Michael can be seen as either a horrible monster who blew his Freudian Excuse WAY out of proportion or a Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds who simply can’t function normally and lashes out at innocent people. He also has Well-Intentioned Extremist qualities due to murdering Prima and Terceira, who were themselves serial killers.
  • Morgan’s attempted rape of Christopher can be a pretty splitting issue in his character interpretation depending on whether you believe he was acting under his own intentions or if he was being controlled by Michael. There’s also the issue of if he’s really trying to do what he thinks is best for Matthew or if he’s just a control freak and abuser.
• Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: The plant monster in the flower shop, though the chapter itself does wonders to show how far Christopher’s Sanity Slippage has progressed.
