- Nightmare Fuel: Jashiin's face in the introduction - a big grin full of sharp teeth, hidden in the shadows. Notable in that he looks nothing like that when you finally fight him.
- Scrappy Mechanic: In this game, you do gain XP and but need level-up manually by visiting the local sage who'll tell either you need to grind some more or you've gained a level. This can be frustrating because there's no indicator whatsoever telling how much XP you currently have or how much more XP you need to level up.
- That One Boss:
- The dragon of the volcano world is quite accurate with its fiery Breath Weapon.
- Vista could eat lots of your health if you're not careful.
- That One Level:
- In Stage 7, there's a fire cave called Correr. You need to find the exit, not an easy task since the scenery and doors all look the same (except for the differently colored symbols above the doors). It's also filled with one-way invisible walls, meaning that if you cross one you can't get back the way you came. On top of that, it has whirlpools. Get caught in one of these and you'll get carried somewhere else in the level. Did we mention wolves constantly respawn and try to ram you?
- The fifth and final worlds contain fake walls that you are supposed to run or jump through.
