YMMV / Wii Deleted You: Recursive Data

Go To

  • Growing the Beard:
    • The first two chapters, while not dissappointing, lean towards So Okay, It's Average. "Eteled: Origins" played it relatively safe and felt more like a retread of the original story's counterpart, while "Hatred's Tether" was too short to show Austin's feelings about his death. "Roy's Story 1" marked the point where not only did Recursive Data show it was NOT a reskin of the original story, it's also willing to expand on unresolved or untouched elements, even revealing Todd Kennington to be the father of Henry Morris. If that wasn't enough, "Lamentis" followed up by showing the impact actions will have long term with Roy Anderson stabbing Ronnie Jones in response to the deaths of his three friends, while fully realizing the Central Theme. Last but not least, "My World" revealed more of Austin's feelings about being murdered in-depth, and revealed a very significant change to the story: Austin and Henry are friends in this version. Before the changes in March 3, 2024 that lead to the first two chapters being more positively recieved, reader consensus regarding those three stories are agreed on to be positive.
    • The author took note of the increase in quality, and added new additions to the first two chapters in order to be in line with the later chapters. "Eteled: Origins", while minor, reveals that Jonathan left Nintendo Of America because he found out his son and adoptive one son died at work, alongside the fact that he realizes in the same day Henry is the one who killed his son. The remake of "Hatred's Tether" is much longer than the original version, and even delves into the connection that Austin and Henry have in this version, down to recontextualizing the very moment the former was murdered.
