- Hilarious in Hindsight: When he sneaks into San Francisco, Berneaux picks the name Aronnax as an alias from a book in the sub library and poses as a wealthy trader. The professor will certainly receive some weird looks when he gets into Frisco some months later.
- Obvious Judas: Since Gallagher is the only member of the team to constantly disobey orders, disagree with the others and ridicule his colleagues and their achievements, it's rather obvious he is ready to betray them.
- What Do You Mean, It's Not Political?: Whether the unnamed powers hunting the Nautilus are a metaphor for modern multinationals and/or the US The War on Terror is up to the reader.
