• Audience-Alienating Ending: Jules surviving the massacre and pulling a Karma Houdini was not received well, with some feeling it sours the entire story that she doesn't get her comeuppance. To make it worse, it's noted that even with the punishment she gets, she could easily use her status to recover, while Maddy is vilified as a monster.
• Ensemble Dark Horse: Kali is well-liked for her fierce activism and being very rounded for a supporting character, as she's realistically flawed but one of the few decent people in the story.
• Older Than They Think: Wendy helping Maddy escape at the end is similar to the ending of the 2002 Carrie film.
