YMMV / The Trip Across Paris

Go To

  • Questionable Casting: The film wa subjected to this back then, when Bourvil was seen as a comedy actor and nothing else, especially by the writer of the novel it's based off, Marcel Aymé, who strongly disapproved of the casting and even made it known publicly via letters in the press. Then, upon release, He Really Can Act kicked in, and the subtle dramedy acting Bourvil displayed instantly made the film a classic.
  • Visual Effects of Awesome: None of the silhouettes of the monuments of Paris in the film were taken in the city itself. They were all giant cardboards designed by chief decorator Max Douy, and the black and white beautifully helped concealing this, even rendering the city fittingly ominous for the German Occupation setting.
