• Broken Base: Some objections were raised to the use of a wide range of nationalities in the actors, rather than real Chileans. The 33, however, were happy with how the actors portrayed them, not really caring that they weren't played by Chileans. The real Mario was especially impressed at being played by Antonio Banderas.
• Genius Bonus: The Chileans said that all Bolivians are thiefs. Mamani said that they were working on a mine built in a territory that Chile stole from Bolivia in 1881. He was making reference to the War of the Pacific, a war between Chile, Bolivia and Peru. Bolivia increased taxes on Chilean mines, Chile declared war against Bolivia (and dragged Peru to it, as they had a mutual secret treaty of alliance), and Chile won the war, securing territories of both Bolivia and Peru.
