• The Other Darrin: William Callaway voices Young Cupid with a voice similar to Elvis Presley (in contrast to Joe Besser voicing Cupid in the previous seasons).
• Padding: The slow-paced beginning with Cupid, Van Garg and Hans can be considered this. The plot doesn't start until the Smurfs land into the Netherlands through time travel. Some of the scenes focus on the Smurfs' slapstick (especially in the training scene), which is slow and awkward in pacing.
