• Alternate Character Interpretation: Tons for Velvare. Does he keep secrets from Enel because he knows Enel can't keep quiet, or is there an ulterior motive at work? Is he a noble negotiator who wants peace, or a power-hungry tyrant who wants Gallitan all to himself?
• Die for Our Ship: There are some very intense Bhatair/Gudrun shippers in the fandom, despite the couple only showing up in flashbacks.
• Portmanteau Couple Name: Channel for Chara/Enel, Gutair for Gudrun/Bhatair, Aperlyne (previously Berpen) for Apen/Berlyne
• The Un-Twist: Velvare is actually Enel's father. His honest-to-goodness, fully legitimate father. It's very heavily implied, not to mention outright stated by some characters, and there's some blatant family resemblance (especially during his flashbacks as Bhatair). Even still, it's a very dramatic moment, and the obviousness doesn't take away from the magnitude.
• The Woobie: Apen Shephard has quite the tragic backstory, including his mother dying a year after he was born, watching a friend get beheaded, watching his father die, giving up his kingdom, getting thrown into the deadlands, and basically giving up on life when he realises that all he can do after all this is start over.
