YMMV / The Revenge of the Old Queen

Go To

  • Awesome Music: The Moon Drenched Shores of Transylvania, the only song from the script to be recorded, demonstrates that Richard O'Brien had not lost his songwriting abilities.
  • It Was His Sled: The story itself doesn't tell us until near the end what happened to Brad and Janet after the first movie, but the character profiles at the top of the script spoil it.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Not exactly scary, but just creepy and gross; the first scene after the opening number is Magenta’s funeral, and Riff Raff, her brother who murdered her in a jealous rage, lies over her coffin mourning the fact that she “made [him] kill the only thing [he] ever loved in [his] entire life.” He goes on rambling like this for a while before he says “…you know what I want, don’t you?” and begins to open the lid of her coffin before he is interrupted by the door opening…and it’s pretty easy to guess what he was planning to do to her had he not been interrupted… *shudder.* Poor Magenta, you deserved better than this.
  • Spoiled by the Format: The character profiles at the top of the script spoil a lot of things that aren't revealed until near the end of the story, like the fates of Brad and Janet and Sonny's parentage.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: We know that Transylvanians are capable of turning people to stone with their Medusa device. In the script, Judy arrives in Transylvania just as naked as the statues from the first film were. When she and Lord De Lordy see each other, they... fall in love, resulting in a rather anti-climactic Romantic Plot Tumor.
