YMMV / The Punisher: The End

Go To

  • Alternate Character Interpretation: The Coven could have easily been lying about being the last surviving people left on Earth (after all, the bunker in Sing Sing was still there) in order to manipulate Frank and make him more reluctant to kill them.
  • Heartwarming Moments: The one light of all this (aside from bringing those responsible for humanity's end to justice) is knowing that Frank Castle will be reunited with his family, after so many years of suffering since that fateful day.
  • Moral Event Horizon: Frank Castle of all people gets one when he shot up a facility full of survivors, including the innocent servants/assistants, because they engineered a Hidden Elf Village in case of nuclear war and he SUSPECTED that they (as in their elite social class, not these people specifically) caused the attack in the first place, killing off the last of humanity. Thank goodness it's non-canon.
  • Narm: At the halfway mark, Frank knowingly triggers a tranquilizer gas trap. He spends the rest of the book in a drug-addled stupor, so the art from that point on gets kind of wonky; Frank and Paris — who are dying of radiation poisoning — look like zombies.
  • Too Bleak, Stopped Caring: The world is completely void of any other life, save Frank Castle, his sidekick, and the people he's looking for. Frank kills literally everyone else, destroying any means of restoring the world, then wanders off to die. It starts bleak, ends bleak, and ultimately the reader is left to wonder what the point of it all was.
