* {{Narm}}: At the halfway mark, Frank knowingly triggers a tranquilizer gas trap. He spends the rest of the book in a drug-addled stupor, so the art from that point on gets kind of wonky; Frank and Paris -- who are dying of radiation poisoning -- look like zombies.

* TooBleakStoppedCaring: The world is completely void of any other life, save Frank Castle, his sidekick, and the people he's looking for. [[spoiler:Frank kills literally ''everyone'' else, destroying any means of restoring the world, then wanders off to die.]] It starts bleak, ends bleak, and ultimately the reader is left to wonder what the point of it all was.

* AlternateCharacterInterpertation: The Coven could have easily been lying about being the last surviving people left on Earth (after all, the bunker in Sing Sing was still there) in order to manipulate Frank and make him more reluctant to kill them.
